I think the inflation is really upsetting the market. Bernardo Silva was a steal at the price we paid, everything jumped so much since then (and now the crazy Neymar deal) that it's got to be insanely hard for teams to agree on valuations for players right now. Only the very top clubs will pay the kinds of fees players are going for now and those are always difficult deals to complete. The rest of the market has more or less vanished because nobody wants to sell for a low fee

Now that it seems there appears zero chance of us getting Mbappe then one would assume it means we can go balls in for Sanchez and a defender.

But irrespective, Foden is getting on the bench now, which is fair enough, although it will probably change when everyone is fit, but hopefully he'll still get on there sometimes. There hasn't been an opportunity to play him so far & tbf he hasn't done enough pre season to merit being played in a tight game, but he's been there ready to go, so fair play to Pep, so far.

We'll have such big names on the bench that Pep will be under pressure to give each as much game time as poss. In which case the up-and-coming kids, whose squeals count for less, will miss out unless they present an "impossible to overlook" case. Not a dig, just reality.
