Alexis Sanchez

Cannot see this getting completed. Apparently he's gone to Chile now also. I know medicals can be done abroad but time is certainly running out.

Fair point, also more time and opportunity for other interested clubs to approach him Alves style and indicate a more lucrative move and possibly timing ?

City have their way of conducting secretive business so how do we know whether all is done and dusted with both Arsenal and Sanchez or we have lost interest in the deal or indeed whether we were seriously interested initially.
All sorts of possibilities in between those extremes but I do wonder how much we assume is factual because City make very few announcements.

In my opinion I don't think any manager would sacrifice 3 points and the clubs reputation just to "prove a point", he fucked up big time with the selection and it's backfired. If your thoughts was his intention then why didn't he pick Mustafi who also wants out?
That's a very good point to which I have absolutely no answer for. I nearly said because he's in Italy sorting out a move to inter but thought I'd check the teams from yesterday. Maybe mustafi has a "sore back" or "has a cold" or isn't "100% fit" as seems to be the trend with wantaway players lately.

Which makes it even more puzzling why he picked both Sanchez and the Ox for the game, the two players who're kicking up a stink and wanting out, why not play 4-4-2 with Lacazette and Wallcot replacing them?......you can see why the Gooners are fuming with Wenger, he's lost the plot.

Played Bellerin at LB with Kolasinac on the bench; selling Mustafi without a replacement; Lacazette on the bench...Wenger is fucking insane

Wenger has totally lost it. He played 3 at the back against the quickest wide forwards in the Premier League and dropped Lacazette and Giroud against a defence that struggles with crosses. And also played other players out of position. First game for Sanchez but he looked well off the pace. I feel we are in for yesterday's man and it would be a really bad decision to buy him when Aguero is also struggling with the same issues. The other aspect of Sanchez's game at Arsenal was that he was played as a deep forward in the Silva, De Bruyne position. We do not need another player in that position. We could do with an out and out forward but Sanchez has reached the age where he is dropping deeper to find space. Of the forwards we are linked with, Aubameyang suits us better, but I'd be very surprised if Dortmund sold him having sold Dembele.

I think Sanchez will probably be ok, as he gets match fit, but there is the worry that last season could have been his Zabba season.

I think he's probably got a couple of big seasons left in him though, as has Aguero.

Why we are chasing two players close to 30 years old in the last days of the transfer window, for 100 mil, & so many people think it's ok, is truly fucking bizarre though.

Why would you think that? The guy has already turned down PSG and Bayern. We are the only show in town, and it's just a question of whether Arsenal/Wenger will be prepared to give the stubborn guy routine a rest and let him go......

Last year it would have been a travesty but the squad is quite young now so it's not a problem.

So in the space of a week, you've now said Messi is past it and now Sanchez as well.

One is the best player of all time and last season's top scorer in Europe and the other is one of the best players in the world. The latter of which had no pre season and played his first minutes of the season yesterday.

You worry me, Marv.

Marv is just Marv... he likes the attention

Anyone who believes that nonsense must be on the wum, I mean he's actually just stated that aubameyang suits us more??? In case he hasn't noticed we are facing 10 men behind the ball every week!

Barca bought Suarez at a similar age didn't they?

We need players who are good now up front. Not players who will peak in 3 or 4 years. Jesus, Sane, Sterling are don't give us that experience or peak power just yet.

If we buy Sanchez and we win a couple of league titles and he scores a load of goals to help us do that then we was worth it.

Also important to remember that it's only the minority that think it's 'bizarre'. Most City fans really want him, and so do the club.

Remember, just because the club aren't doing exactly what you want doesn't mean it's bad or wrong.

Sanchez is world class and one of the best players in the world.

If he & JFE are so important, why is it happening now & still not happened & what is the backup plan for both ?

Would be surprised if this doesn't happen. Guardiola was fully supportive of other departments of the team last season, even when departments performed below par, but he was regularly critical of our ability to convert chances, so having let Iheanacho go and frozen Bony out, it would be peculiar if we failed to get this over the line.

If it's all about converting chances, you would have thought he would go for a goalscorer.

Imo it's about getting more goals spread around the team.

I dont believe he would but again Alves seemed to be a done deal.
Money talks

With two days to go, can anyone seriously still see this happening? It's one thing City being quiet but Arsenal are also and that's telling that nothing has happened yet.
