And there are quite a few Arsenal fans saying the same thing.

Can't argue with Wright, Arsenal are a joke. They should have got a new manager and ripped apart that team, sold those who didn't want to commit and invest that into the team and have a new vision for the future.

Still can't see this not happening. It's still too early for Arsenal to accept without expectation of bringing someone in. I'll be surprised if the story doesn't swing back around 9pm UK time

Fuck them then, it's not like we're struggling for attackers. Leave them with a hugely unhappy player who will leave them for free next year. The only losers here are Arsenal
It would be hilarious if he fucks up their dressing room and we get him in January for 10-15 million lol.

This is exactly what they want, honestly it might even be scripted at this stage. Now suddenly a sinificant proportion of the fan base want them to sell? Whereas not long ago it would have been a catastrophic decision...

BBC.

Old news.

Until either club announces something, it's still on.

Manchester City's bid to sign Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez looks to be over.

It is understood that a conditional agreement was reached in principle between City and Arsenal for Sanchez to move to the Etihad Stadium.

The fee was £55m, plus £5m in add-ons.

But it depended on Arsenal first securing a replacement to fill the gap left by the 28-year-old.

Their target was Monaco winger Thomas Lemar and an agreement was reportedly reached between the clubs for a fee in the region of £90m.

However, it is thought that the 21-year-old France international decided against the move.

City are currently not prepared to resurrect the deal by offering a player in exchange or more money for a straight cash deal.

Barring a remarkable last-minute turn of events Sanchez, who wanted to join City to be reunited with his former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola, will stay at Arsenal.

It's fishy as fuck.

He is into the final year of his contract and is likely to leave on a free transfer next summer.

No way. He has to get to the stadium and do some warm ups to play. Chile's coach will rip his ass out if he's still signing contracts 40 minutes before the match. IMO if this doesn't happen in the next hour, it's off.

He could've signed a pre-contract in advance of the clubs agreeing a fee. Unlikely to happen now though I agree. Would we want him in 12 months time when nearly 30 ? I think not.

BBC breaking news.. It's off....ah well, good while it lasted!

Ornstein reporting it, he might as well be an Arsenal mouthpiece. Even then he qualified it with

"City are currently not prepared to resurrect the deal by offering a player in exchange or more money for a straight cash deal.

More like 95% off. The only thing making me hesitate is that none of the City men in the media like Mullock or Lee have been reporting the deal as dead.

What a mess. Both sides have left this way too late. The fallout will be bad for all parties. Imagine Pep now. Imagine Sanchez now?!

Months wasted due to both sides posturing. Sorry .. seems that way.

Arsenal keeping a very unhappy player because they can't get a replacement is ridiculous. Sanchez still won't play for them.

City haven't left anything too late. You can't legislate for having to deal with a complete fuckwit, who has made a total and utter bollocks of this transfer window to date, and to save face with his own club's supporters, is now making it up as he goes along in the ridiculous belief that he will be able to somehow charm a furious Sanchez back into some sort 'once more unto the breach' team ethic
