Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal lost all credibility years ago when they sold Adebayor, RVP, Nasri, Toure, etcetera. Some may see this as some sort of moral victory but deep down they will know it isn't and what it is is stupidity of the highest order.

Either post it or not, but I won't be clicking the link, and I hope nobody else does.
I do beg your pardon :-)

Manchester City have admitted defeat in their pursuit of Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.

Pep Guardiola has wanted to add the Chilean to his forward line for a long time, with City officials first contacting their Arsenal counterparts three months ago to make their interest known.

A number of phone calls have been exchanged between senior officials at both clubs.

City had a £55m bid including £5m in add-ons accepted by Arsenal on Thursday

Arsenal were adamant they would not sell the 28-year-old, until they made it clear that if Raheem Sterling would come in the other direction, a deal could be done.

City refused, but sensed an opening. On Tuesday, an offer of £50m was made. It was turned down.

On Thursday morning, Arsenal officials contacted City. They had found a replacement in Thomas Lemar.

City were invited to make an offer. They did - £55m plus £5m add ons. It was verbally agreed. Arsenal had a bid of £92m accepted by Monaco, only for it to then collapse leaving the Sanchez deal in tatters.

At City, they are frustrated, but relaxed. Sanchez would have been the icing on the cake of what has been a superb window for them.

They are happy with their business. There is no little bemusement, however, that they are being blamed for the collapse.

Sportsmail understands, thanks to the above, that simply is not the case.

He'd probably miss some of them too. The difference should be that he does convert more and make a better pass more often than some of our existing attacking players. We'd be paying for that extra 5-10 percent. That's the difference between the levels. Between drawing against Everton or losing in the Champs League to Monaco (given we've neglected central defence and central midfield). He's the finished product. Sometimes football is about the here and now. I think he'd have made the difference.

We'll never know for sure, at least not until we probably try again in January.

He convets more for Arsenal, playing in games where teams fancy their chances & open up.

Different job at City.

The chances we have been missing, Fat Bob Taylor or Jon Macken would have a decent ratio of scoring. Our players should be doing better & we should be creating even more openings from the positions we get into.

As the manager, imo, Pep should try to figure out why these guys are not as clinical as they ought to be & get into tbeir heads, to fix it.

On one occasion last week, Aguero actually ducked the opportunity to put the ball away, trying to be extra sure. That's not ability, it's in his mind. He is fully capable of better.

Would you agree, that Arsenal are probably the least well run club, out of the big clubs in England , from a football not financial perspective?

Not sure about that...but we've hardly covered ourselves in glory this transfer season, so actually, you rare amongst your fellow fans, do make a valid point. Something I'll reflect on, thanks...

Sanchez will sign new Arsenal deal within a week of it doesn't go through in next 20 mins.

No brainer his agent will be thinking £££
Of course his agent will be thinking £££ but he will be trinking of signing on fees as he goes out of contract. Can't see him resigning for Arsenal.
