New Kompany Calf Injury?

I hope this is planned for. It should be, since it's to be expected at various points in the season. I know we didn't get our saviour Jonny Evans (who I think would have been fuck all use anyway tbh) but presumably Pep is reasonably happy with the squad defensively or we'd have tried much harder to get another CB.

Guardiola on Kompany: "It will be short [-term injury] but I don't think he will be able to play tomorrow. We have Mangala, we have Tosin."

Gulp.

Saw that quote from Conte about how he spoke to Martinez and agree Hazard would play against Gibraltar. I assume Pep would have had a similar conversation re Vinnie?

Not like this wasn't coming. pep talked about buying a CH for this reason over and over.

Bottom line is we had money to spend and didn't spend it on a CH which bizarrely was an afterthought. We will never know the full reason why but I hesitate to call it a mistake as I know many believe it wasn't. At best I believe we took a gamble and ran out of time.

Not only do we lose our best and only decent central defender but we lose our captain for what is a big game.

Guardiola looks pretty foolish now. And he's not on his own ;

Inevitable that this would happen at some point. We're not a one man team though. Really want to see this team start to produce the goods now, dominate possession, create chances, take chances and defend like a top team should.

Someone is going to have to step up. Stones, Tosin or Mangala. Long term we could probably re-jig the back 4, or 3 with the full backs we have, but it's too short term to do it now.

Love big Vin he's a blue through and through. The problem, history tells us missing one game turns into ten.

200m spent but we still look well short at CF and CB.

For all the criticism of Mangala, personally I'd be horrified if Tosin was anywhere near tomorrow's match. Surely that's not a realistic possibility.

It's Kompany who is foolish, also infuriating. He should have packed Belgium in a long time ago. Pellegrino had the same problem with him, and he would turn up for Belgium even though he wasn't 100%, and despite the manager not wanting him to. He should remember who pays his wages.

Question is whether playing for Belgium has lead to more injuries, or would he simply have injured himself at other times while with City.
