La Liga want Man City investigation

This whole debate about club ownership has not been thought through. It's all very well the old guard pointing the finger at us and PSG but as we know Real Madrid have had significant state aid through a variety of channels some more transparent than others. Barcelona have had lots of money from the Catalan govt as have Athletic from the Basque govt. Bayern Munich have a complex set of shareholders who also sponsor them and have benefited from numerous state subsidies over the years. I'm sure any investigation might find some issues with PSG and the links between their owners and sponsors but the same must be true in Munich and elsewhere. Moreover, any proper investigation of Spanish clubs would find a need for significant sums of state aid to be repaid and millions more owed in tax for preferential tax rates, subsidies and soft loans etc. A can of worms is being opened here which will see PSGs lawyers and possibly ours have a field day. Italian and Spanish clubs put under proper financial scrutiny would be a sight to behold. Once the lawyers look at this he whole thing will be swept under the carpet quicker than you can say 'rotten to the core' You'll see. As an aside it would be nice to establish who paid for the rebuilding work at OT ahead of the 1966 World Cup?
Good post mate. Concerning Bayern Munich I can add that Audi, Allianz and Adidas all own 8,33% of the shares. These shares were purchased by Adidas in 2002 for 77 million Euros, Audi 2009 for 90 million Euros and Allianz in 2014 for 110 million Euros. These 3 sales are in my humble opinion "financial doping" of the exactly the same kind as we are being accused of, as it is nothing but owners putting money into the club. The money has allowed Bayern München to be by far financially the strongest club in Germany (note that 77 million in 2002 terms is significantly more than in todays terms). They used the money to among others buy up the best players from their Bundesliga competitors, and they were therefore virtually guaranteed Champions League every season, which off course in turn guaranteed even more money. In reality the investment from Adidas, Audi and Allianz has brought Bayern Munich to where they are today.

Apart from Etihad and Etisalat which are both state owned.

Technically yes, but hardly fair. Both Etihad and Etisalat are commercial organisations putting any sponsorship deals through their books. Saying sponsorship from these two is state aid would be the same as saying the RBS six Nations is state funded![/QUOTE]

Chevrolet's parent company General Motors also received a state bail out of $13.4bn

There's evidence that Etihad, certainly in the early days of the deal, got the money for our sponsorship directly from the Executive Council.

Definitely going to happen that.

Just like the prediction that the economy would fall off a cliff the moment we voted to leave has come true.

Wrong thread I know, but you started it.

The pound has fallen off a cliff though, hasn't it? It fell off a cliff within a few hours of the announcement of the Brexit result, maybe that passed you by?

The rest of the impending cliff will happen when we come out of the single market and customs union.

As I said, wrong thread. Check out my post in 'New Brexit Thread' p78.

They're getting a bit desperate now: http://www.sport-english.com/en/new...s-to-restrict-the-transfer-fee-bubble-6269304

Barca want:
  1. FFP rules rigorously applied
  2. Implementation of release clauses across UEFA
  3. A limit on spending
Barça have already contacted other big European clubs like Bayern, Arsenal and Juventus to try to set up a system that avoids clubs like PSG or Manchester City spending more than them due to their rich owners.

If anyone doubted that the old G-14 was still alive and well then here's the proof.

Love the rich owners line , yes we do have rich owners but so do Arsenal , Liverpool , the scum and lots of other clubs, it's the business accumen that city's rich owners have that's the most valuable asset to city , the asset that the other rich owners don't seem to have .
