New Kompany Calf Injury?

Regardless of the type of injury, or whether it's a recurrence that could easily have been avoided, the really depressing aspect is that we were having this debate two years ago.
Just look at the predictions for 2015-16, and the number of posters who stated the importance of Kompany staying fit.

Time to move on he is not coming back long term we all know it including Vinny.

We need to find a capable long term replacement.
Really !! Fuck me another one with a Medicine Degree. You know fuck all like the rest of us and seeing that he`s played the last 14/15 games without any incident on his previous injury, then can you please enlighten me with tomorrows Lottery numbers.

Feel the club may have been showing a commendable if ultimately futile belief that VK could make full recovery.
Hopefully it won't hurt us heavily this season but maybe we need to be a bit more ruthless in future.
In saying that a bit of me says it still shows us as a club with with some heart.

Well I`m still yet to see or hear from anyone that the injury is either a knock or a strain.

Exactly. I get all the doubters, we could have got another CB in and we're all good with hindsight but ffs, let's give it a go before we all get going with the razor blades. At the beginning of the window, everyone was saying how the full backs would improve the team, especially the centre backs. Rip the dippers a new one ans all is forgiven.

Kompany being injured is hardly a surprise to anyone unfortunately.

Hopefully he won't be out for too long.

The club not finding a suitable replacement this summer may come back to haunt us in one of our big games, against a possible title rival come the end of the season. I hope this injury doesn't cost us any points.

I agree with the overall point, and yes, we could easily beat Liverpool.

However, it's a bit disingenuous to suggest that the doubters are using hindsight when Kompany's injury problems started at least two seasons ago.

Not really. We could all say that we needed a new CB and I would have been one of them before we signed Stones, and would have been happy if we had signed a new CB this window. But it isn't just about one position, it's about the squad as a whole and if the manager believes we need someone in a different position, that leads to us missing out on another player due to finance, I'm happy with that. There may come a time when I'm not happy with that but our manager has decided, for the purpose of this window, that we needed an attacking player. We didn't get him, move on.

I'm sure someone can better explain what I'm trying to say there.

Ive said it before "Keep Kompany fit" =we win the league , such a big voice/presence/influence which is vital if we have any chance of the title

Yep,we heard you the first time......but i guess you didnt quite get the reaction you were after,eh troll boy?

Not only do we lose our best and only decent central defender but we lose our captain for what is a big game.

Guardiola looks pretty foolish now. And he's not on his own ;
Are the two paragraphs meant to be related to each other?

Well seeing as the transfer window shut only a week ago, moving on as you call it is not an option.

However, rather than jumping to conclusions about how bad the injury is, how about waiting to see when he will be fit again before writing off our captain and best central defender.

What is his actual injury and how long are we looking at before a return - gen question
Good question. On the official site it says "He played with Belgium against Gibraltar. They won 9-0. He had a little problem in his calf. I think he will not be able for tomorrow.” “It will be short [his absence]. The next time he will be able to play. "I'm sad. I would like him to be fit. "He made a huge effort, our physios worked a lot to take care of him, so the last seven, eight, nine games of the season he played without problem for 90 mins."

However I don't think that's an exact translation of what he said. I can't make out what he said but I don't think he said that.

I thought his press conference was very poor and honestly I didn't want to say that. This little snippet I found very unconvincing. https://www.mancity.com/citytv/inte...ool-pep-guardiola-gabriel-jesus-sergio-aguero

We spent the Summer arguing about this precisely because injury to Kompany was so predictable so what is your opinion on City's decision not to replace him, or at least bring cover in in that position?

I must be missing something. Mangala, stones, ottamendi and tosin seems like cover to me.
