Me and the missus have decided to buy a motorhome, nothing flash, budget of around 18k, been camping and caravaning so this seems the next step, need a 5/6 birth, anyone know of any good dealers or any tips would be more than welcome as I'm pretty much clueless.

We're sat in ours right now in Rotterdam having been touring France for three weeks. Called the ferry company and had them change our ferry crossing from yesterday to Thursday.
The biggest struggle was working out how to get our match tickets here!

I would suggest you go to the motorhome show in October, read up a few motorhome magazines, go round some local dealers.
You need to 'feel' it's right for you. Go in lots and sit down, think what it would be like living in.
Think what you want it for, how many berths, how many forward facing seats with seatbelts, what are you taking with you, how are you going to get about when you arrive on site, what fuels will you use for cooking, heating etc especially when you have no electric hook up, how you going to charge all your gadgets.

We made a list of essentials and non-essentials and then bought the one that most fitted.

I've been working from mine the last two days and the Mrs is currently doing her work.
Just drank a few beers before going to downtown Rotterdam to meet up with some blues.

If you need anything, ask away.

Try the place on Prettywood, on the road to Heywood ? Don't know anyone who has dealt with them, just know they sell em.

Sounds class that mate

5/6 berth?
Really?
Get the 6 of you to imagine being in there all at once, sitting, eating, getting dressed, generally doing all the things you're likely to be doing together.
Then see if you can imagine doing that when a gales blowing for a few hours without wanting to kill someone

I'm on the hunt for one too.... done camping and done caravanning and fancy a motorhome now....

There is a place in Ellesmere Port that specialises in Hobby Campers but need to do some more research before taking the plunge....

SWMBO is currently in remission and doesn't relish overseas travel so much these days so a camper is probably a good idea for us....

Necessities for me are AC for the living / sleeping area when hooked up and a decent amount of space to maybe consider a fixed bed....

Squirtyflower came up with a good point about working from his... I did that a few times when we last had a caravan and it worked well... Only 14 months till I said I would retire but if I got a decent office on wheels I might be able to work on while the interest is still there...... I am home based predominently anyway

We had A-C as an essential but was talked out of it by the salesman.
He said electricity in many warmer climes are 6A, it certainly was where we were last week, which gives you 220V times 6A as power, 6x220 = 1320W of power. An A/C unit would probably consume more than that, then add I the fridge, your lights, gadgets and the Mrs' bleedin hairdryer and you are well over.

We managed this summer but I'm going to look at for a standalone A/C unit with low power consumption or a fan!

It's been interesting.
Took it for a few trips in the Lakes to get used to it then took 18 days round Wales and England finishing at Brighton for the game.
Day after Everton headed south and got to the Cote D'Azur.
When's the draw was made I had a few days thinking about how I could get my Feyenoord tickets here and then decided to stay over for the game.

For the love of god DO NOT drive it up mountain passes. You lot fucking ruin my weekend drives with your lack of consideration for the boy racers of the world.
