The 100/104 goal chase

ive got a few City bets this season like always :-) This years bets have been paid from the winnings i had last season from Kane to be leagues top scorer. (dont shout at me but i just had one of those feelings that kane would score more than sergio) sorry.

I know we only got 2 against Shakhtar but we missed so many chances. The penalty, Sterling sitter, KDB one on one, Sane could have squared it to a teammate for a tap in on multiple occasions, Sergio's volley that he could have also squared to Sane for a tap in. We've scored 16 goals in our last 3 in the league and could have legitimately had more in those games. If we are ruthless in that run of games against Stoke, Burnley and West Brom we could rack up some serious numbers. I think I'm right in saying the most goals we've scored in one Premier League match is 7 vs Norwich at home. We're more than capable of breaking that record against a team at the bottom of the table who play open football e.g. Bournemouth providing we take all of our clear cut chances. 8 goals in one match would make this target a lot easier to reach. We probably still wouldn't be 1st on MOTD even if we won 8-0 though.

Except that we are often first on, sometimes even to my surprise. With regard to 100 goals it has not been achieved very often but I put my £20 on at 33-1. A much better bet I went for was 80 goals which I got at 5-4. I wish I had put a large amount of money on. I wouldn't even call it a bet, more an investment with a guaranteed return!

The 5/4 80 goals bet was limited to £30

I was going to have a bet on 50 at the half way point. Thought Liverpool home & Watford away would be low scoring affairs though.

Going to be a lot harder without Aguero's goals for the next few weeks and Mendy's crossing for the rest of the season. The good news is that it looks like KDB is stepping up in Kun's absence and hopefully Merlin will start to chip in with a few too. Sane and Sterling's goals are invaluable when your top striker is out for 1-2 months and of course I'm sure Gabby will do us proud while Sergio is out.

Aguero won't miss that many games really, and 22 in 7 is a great return. Stoke and Burnley next up are a good test without Aguero to see if we are still free scoring.

Aguero's likely to miss 2 games, against Stoke and Burnley. If that derails us we were never going to get there anyway.

As much as I have loved the big scoring games. The shakhtar and especially Chelsea matches were more satisfying because we were challenged but overcame them comfortably.

Still on course for that big total too.

They were the best wins of the season for sure. 1st half v Shakhtar they were the better team I thought, but the way we came back in the 2nd half was great. I just watched the entire 2nd half v Chelsea online and I appreciate the performance even more than before! Watching it without the match day nerves is just phenomenal. Utter domination. I suppose now, Stoke is a huge test for the team. They need to show that after 2 intense games, they can still play with tempo, with high pressing, with good build up against a mundane opponent straight after the glamour tie. We need to kick on again the same as we did after Liverpool. We need to fucking own this league.

To be honest, Shakhtar could and should have been another mauling.

We missed at least 3 or 4 golden opportunities.

Aguero missed the penalty.
Sterling missed his first chance when it looked easier to score.
Sané shot when he could have squared it for a tap in.
Aguero shot when he could have squared it for a tap in to Sané off that amazing Silva pass.

For me, that Shakhtar game was an example of a game where our finishing completely deserted us, but we still won, whereas last season we were drawing those games - like the Everton home or Stoke at home games.

The fact it was against actually very good opposition who posed us some problems in the first half just makes it even more impressive that we created all those chances.

Was just looking at sky bet and they've added the 104 goal bet again but at 20/1 now if anyone fancies it. Just go on football - specials - premier league request a bet - manchester city request a bet and it's there.

Two 5-0 victories in the next two home games would be nice! Played 9 scored 32! Would boost it to 3.56 per game and leave us on course for 135 goals!!

Sure someone's already done this maths, but at the current rate we're on track to bag 119 and concede just 11 in the league this season. Of course that's very unlikely but our great start means we only need to score 2.65 goals a game to reach 104.
