Arsenal (H) Post Match Thread

Much as I like ‘you’ve had your day out - now fuck off home’ song, 65 mins was a bit early to start singing it imo, especially as they scored during the song!

And.....Breathe. A very tough week, passed with flying colours. Not amazing football today, but commitment is total. Players clearly believe in themselves and Pep. 75% of the battle. A team to be proud of.
What some people haven't grasped is that we are not playing that well - compared to how we can play - and yet even so, we are still well beating if not thrashing our opponents.

What we are demonstrating is just how much we have in reserve, just how much better than everyone else in the league we actually are.

For those waiting for our form to drop off, bad luck you've just seen it. People haven't realised since we're still scoring 3 or 4 goals. Normally sides that don't play that well, lose. Champions not playing that well, grind out a 1-0 or perhaps just take 1 point. We grind out 3-1's and 4-2's :-)

Arsenal were really up for it yesterday, and we didn't play very well, yet we swatted them aside without really breaking a sweat.

Next few games, Kev will find his passing again, ditto Silva and our strikers will start taking their chances and we'll kick on even further.

Opposing fans : Be afraid, be very afraid.

I saw very little wrong with KDB's passing,Silva was exceptional.

This was our off-game and we still won 3-1 pretty easily. Created a ton of chances and kept Ozil/Sanchez pretty quiet throughout.

its going to take an exceptional team to stop us, as others have said we weren't even at our best and we won against one of the better prem team with plenty in hand

they can cry all they want about iffy decisions but we would of won anyway

We can do much better. There were several goal opportunities yesterday where we were through on goal if only the right pass could be made, only it wasn't. Silva has been throughout his career, exceptional at retaining possession and he remains so. At his best, he is also exceptional at playing an attacker through, either and assist or an assist of an assist. But he's not done that part as well as normal, since the start of the season in fact. His decision-making has been well off, by his standards.

We were tired and off the pace a little. Glad we get to see those individual mistakes as major things as they are the only things that go wrong atm, yup the odd single pass is highlighted because we are that good currently, mad if you think about it. We can count on fingers our errors per game almost and that is fantastic.

So we were tired and Arsenal looked at Napoli and essentially tried to press us as they did. They are just not as good as Napoli at it and had a, close to it, perfectly rested first team.

If we can do that to the next best footballing team in the league on our off day what can we really do besides enjoy this, it is wonderful.

Is this the same Silva, who was man of the match. ?

No wonder he would walk the m62 to join Liverpool. :)

I thought Arsenal had a decent shape and pressed well. They loaded our left side and created moments of potential threat, but they didn't utilise it.

I thought we looked really leggy yesterday. A decent European team would have cut our throats. But it happens. We worked so hard on Wednesday, but we still had a great mental attitude yesterday to see the game through.

I'd be really disappointed if we didn't win the league this season. We are so much better than anything around us.

Another great win.

There seemed to be a lot of fatigue second half; will be interesting how Pep manages rotation between now and January when we hopefully will be still in for four trophies.

Any news on Delph? He looked shagged for the last twenty minutes and seemed not in a great way at the end.

That bug eyed prick Ozil took him out. His head had gone, he had just been booked, should have been booked again a minute or so later, and then had a sly look at Delph and took him out right at the end of the game. Looked to me like Delph injured his knee

3 goals against Arsenal when you dont play that well, We used to get battered by them every time we played them. Shows how far we have come. After the Napoli performance i think it took a lot out of the players. Arsenal were one of the best organised i've seen this season and specifically 2nd half they were well drilled at the back.
We should have had a penalty first half when Sterling was pushed in the back, A bad ball by Sterling to Sane. If we were 3 up at half time it would have been fair. We missed a couple of good opportunities 2nd half, KDB couldnt thread his usual pass, i think he was struggling with cramp later on.

But a very good 3 points, and hopefully some resting for a few this week.

I agree we werent at our fluid best but I must have been seeing things differently in regards our Dave.

Agree about Silva, but KdB's passing wasn't as perfect as normal, there were a couple of goals missing because his final passes were an inch or two out. I thought he looked tired though, hence the non perfect final passes. I thought one or two looked tired by the end, but hardly surprising after the week we've had. I do hope they get some time off during this international break.

tried to explain to a mate how we'd looked a bit under-par for sections of the game, let Arse back into it when they scored and they were looking to push for a 2nd, not our finest win etc

his response was exactly as you've written. What have we become?!?

You hear it often but we have to say it really is ours to lose now. I love how we take it one game at a time with a nod maybe to the match ahead. Just keep at it and one day there are no more games and some chap is handing your captain trophies. Obviously that is not something tangible but that is the feeling i get from the squad, how we play, how they talk etc.

I was interested to hear Napoli's match report and alas they got a draw away 0-0 against Chievo and from reports were totally knackered so could not deliver the killer blow. I look at us then doing the next best footballing team, well supposedly, in the league and the perspective is pretty damn good hehe.

Here is Napoli's match report if your interested boss...
