For those that saw both live who was better?

But were either a match for Meredith Ian? You're older than me so should remember.

Touché Colin, I never thought I’d ever see anyone better than the King but this team is taking things to a new level so I expect the players to elevate themselves beyond anyone in our history. Billy Meredith was undoubtedly exceptional but I think I had the edge over him

Different players. Bell was a true box-to-box midfielder who didn't have the silky skills of Silva but could run/sprint all day, had a great passing range and regularly scored in double figures. He'd have been the key player in a Pep team.

Think a combination of Yaya, Fernandinho and Gundogan.
Got this to a t mate

I only saw colin in real life on his comeback from injury so perhaps a jaded view on what I was told by the elders...

I say david is the best I've ever seen play for us.

I’ve been privileged to see them both at their peak.

Colin The King was awesome - a supreme athlete, good on the ground and in the air, great range of passing and a real eye for a goal. He was, and still is, my all time City hero.

I still get shivers down my spine recalling the day he came back from injury (Boxing Day). He came on at half time when the score was nil nil, and despite the fact he could barely run the emotion generated by his return in all the fans and presumably both teams meant that we won 4-0.

Of current players then he had the grace and energy of Fernandinho, the force of Yaya, the “make it happen” gifts of KdB plus more besides.

That being said I think Silva is the most sublime player I have ever seen wearing our colours. He’s crazily brilliant. And, like Colin Bell, he seems to be a really humble, team centred guy and no doubt a manager’s dream player.

If I’m rhapsodising about Colin nearly 50 years on then I hope we have a whole generation of fans younger than me who will tell their own kids and grandkids about how brilliant Dave was.

So a bit like KDB Colin? I only saw Colin play a few times in his comeback season 77/78.

I'm another who was lucky enough to see both players at their peak and frankly I don't care who is considered "better", both are total City legends and both worth the admission money regardless of who else was on the park.

Very different styles of play between the two - Colin the ultimate athlete combined with no little skill and Dave the epitome of a technically outstanding creative player. Both near the top of their profession and - not coincidentally in my opinion - both are characters who let their football do the talking and don't crave the limelight.
