FC United - The reds could be going green!
Region: North West
Votes: 6771
M&S Energy grant awarded: £12,000

FC United are a semi-professional football club, owned by over 4,000 members, and with true community values. The club is a Community Benefit Society, operating on a one member, one vote basis. During their refurbishment of an underdeveloped part of their St. Mary’s Road End stand, they will be looking to install energy efficient heating and lighting. This will enable greater engagement with local community groups.

looks like their alleged vote scam worked

(with true community values) that alone should have them kicked out of the competition when people of moston voted not to have them on there door step but the council over rules them and built fcum on greenfields so how green really are fcum

Bloody embarrassing that they have managed to secure enough votes to win this, little non league club generating more votes that us, fucking pisses me right off.

Our efforts were divided and probably also done incorrectly. As soon as people started spoofing email addresses, that was it.

Should have all gone for one candidate, and also registered votes by collecting them on paper in a pub on match day. Assume each person has 2 email addresses, and think of those numbers.

Nevermind anyway - the longer they survive, the longer they provide entertainment.

How will have a better heating and lighting enable them to engage greater with local community groups?
Which local community groups are going to decide whether or not to hire the bar area based solely on the room having LED lighting?
They have a function room now that hardly anyone hires out. Still, that's £12,000 down. -only a couple of £100,000's to go untill they cam start....

Great, so the 2 entrants we hated the most got the money and we continue to struggle by on a shitty budget.

Fuck's sake.

Presumably because reducing overheads will free up more money for additional community projects.

The current function room is pretty much fully booked most of the time. Took awhile to get to that stage but it's definately well used now.

All 400k of the money for the SMRE development is in place and work will be commencing soon so no more requires raising.

Actually the majority of local residents were in favour. There were of course those against but there has been a few developments recently where there has been zero opposition so I think the club is generally well accepted in the area, possibly due to the community activities for local residents.
