Didn’t they have around 72% of the ball? Think we will have similar or more but we have better attacking players to open them up.
Possession counts for nothing if there is no purpose. I think you’re right though, we are much better equipped to make that possession count.

Kompany should play every other game. Plays V Huddersfield, West Ham, Rags & Spurs. Alternative for games against Southampton, Shaktar, Swansea & Leicester. That will take us up to the Xmas games when hopefully Stones will be back

Absolutely, we have 11 games between now and the end of December, he needs to be managed carefully so I'm with you, use him at weekends and Mangala in mid-week games

I think Walker needs some rest, and Mangala needs a run of games.
Assuming kompany playing weekend and midweek is too risky, I'd play him at Huddersfield and let mangala have the Southampton match.

I disagree with this notion that possession counts for nothing! What counts for is less chances shots on our goal..

Possession in King.

I can see the point of playing Mangala ahead of Kompany, We have 3 games in the league before the derby, and Kompany looked rusty but what if his calf goes again, Although Mangala looked ok in the last 2 games but he hasn't got the passing out of defence ability of Stones. Win the next 3 league games and we can park the bus at the Swamp. Now that would be funny just to see Peg lose it.
If he is fit to play, he is fit to play. If his calf goes again, so be it. We cannot not play him based on just in case

I'd only play Kompany in
Huddersfield A
Utd A
Spurs H

He needs to be fit for Utd and Spurs, after that we can be a bit more risky with him

We should have enough to beat WHU H, Soton H, Swansea A, Bournemouth H without him and Shakhtar A is a dead rubber where Tosin & Manga can play.

Delph should be managed too. I probably wouldn't play him vs Soton and maybe even Swansea. Either way, rotating (and making subs) the back 4 as much as possible to make sure we're available and as rested as possible for Utd/Spurs is important.
If we were to win both of those games we could already have 1 hand on the title with the ability to rest players for the CL knockouts

Yep, thats the team i would go with.

Except for ST the team picks itself. Only other thing I'd be tempted to do is put Foden on the bench over Yaya.

Can’t see anything other than this line up.

Just the people who were sadly missed this evening. You'd think that when the reserves get a sniff of match time they'd bust a gut, but they seemed content at just keeping tabs on their job.

I think it's lack of game time mainly and too many changes. Not saying that's a bad thing because I totally agree with it but it seems to always have an effect. We got the win though so alls well that ends well.

Back to our slick ball movement please. It needs to go forward quicker, otherwise they will just get organised like Feyenoord.

Thats why Pep better prepare Mangala to take over until Stones return.
To be honest in a round about way I agree. If you rested Kompany until the big games in December what's to guarantee that he would be fit anyway. With his recent record he'd probably pick up an injury sat on the bench. I'd take the risk and go with mangala from now until stones returns. May sound irrational to some, but in my opinion, a big part of the performances this season is down to a consistent line up. Compare that to last season with the raft of changes every game. A decent run of games may help.
I know it's not just that (better full backs and keeper) but to me it's a major part. A bit like last night's game, criticism of players coming in to the team with seven changes. Keep the normal core players in and change one or two and people wouldn't be blasting b Silva and gundogan. Nothing replaces playing together in first team matches.

I would hope that's the plan.
Needs the first 2 to get games in his legs ready for the second 2
