His head would have dropped massively in the past after those misses, but it didn’t which is a positive. Not to be harsh, but he really still needs to improve in those positions. That’s where the difference is made in the late stages of the Champions League

Really should've scored with those two chance regardless whether it was weaker foot or not but I thought his performance in itself was actually good and was involved in many of the teams' breaks so I'm surprised some thought he was 'awful' outside of the missed chances. 15 goals 5 assists(inc. pens won) so far this season and still in december is a fantastic return.

Should have had at least 4 today. His finishing was awful but he’s getting in great positions.

Dean Saunders on Talksport suggested that he should have scored five, and the implication is that the three that went begging are a big problem for Pep! Four goals today and three different scorers, and a blank from the record holder! If Sterling misses, someone else won't.

So full of confidence. Skied 3 pretty easy shots with his left foot, yet late in the game smashed another left footed effort that was tipped over & got his just rewards with 2 goals - such a threat.

Just getting into the positions to score (and miss) sitters is a an utter art form in itself.

Posted before but for me he’s like Dzeko was, esp this season with the late goals and match winners but I still think if you watch him live as opposed to TV you see how much below some of his teammates he is in terms of his vision. He is often the one to break up a move with a failed pass or lack of movement and he still needs to sharpen that and work harder for the ball. Will support him of course but still I have the nagging suspicion that deep down he is not a team player and will play here only as long as it suits him. He’s benefitting massively from playing with world class players and the media talking him up because of it. He should have had 5 if not 6 today. But like Dzeko if he nets 20% of the chances he gets, it won’t be a bad total..
