Carabao Cup SF draw (Bristol City)

I have had a soft spot for Bristol City ever since I saw Kazi Deyna destroy them almost single handedly. The best individual performance I have seen in a City shirt to this day. He also got 10 out of 10 in the Sunday paper ratings for that performance

I spent 65-68, missed most of the glory days of the sixties, whilst I idled my way through three college years in Bristol. Flitted between City and Rovers. I do have a soft spot for the pair of them. I suppose City and Rovers fans will think it's all a bit weird that you can have affection for both teams in a city. I know I'd think it weird if someone had equal affection for City and The Swamp Donkeys, but, it's been said before, it's a funny old game.

Does anyone know if we have a 'placeman' at these latest draws, warming up our balls for a favourable draw. My ERO texted me last night and said that the draws have come half circle - MANUre used to get all the soft 'uns and we had the hardest - Burnley in FAC3, and then the CL is tempered with Basel, and as I was texting back saying we weren't gonna get lucky again, he replies and sez we have Bristol! How sweeter can life get?

This and only this! Strongest team possible in the home leg and do our best to kill the tie off. Then, and only then, can we rest some players.
I think pep is a man of principal can see him having a strong bench but still sticking with youth and some experienced players in both legs.

I sometimes wonder what sort of player he’d have been in a better City team - and a few years earlier in his careeer perhaps.

I’d go strong initially rotating a bit then rest players for the away leg if they get a good league. Pointless tossing away the chance of getting to Wembley at this stage.

Well this is a bit of a dilemma. We got a real shot at winning this trophy. Do we continue with the Youth or do we field a strong team now? I am conflicted. On one hand I would like the players who got us this far to stay in the team for the next matches as this is their achievement. On the other hand I think we are so close and I am not sure our young ones could handle Bristol and the way they played against United.

Bristol will be no pushover by any means even if they are concentrating on promotion. Think we should try and do what we did to West Ham the other year and win the game in the first leg. Go strong, hope to win by four or more and then use the second leg to rotate. I think Pep will understand that this won't be easy and will ensure that nobody underestimates Bristol

Go all out for it, never pass up the opportunity of winning a trophy. Perfect draw as well, you wouldn't want to have been facing either Chelsea or Arsenal before we go to Anfield, maybe a couple more senior players in the first leg to make sure we take a decent lead to Bristol.

It's a real funny one for Pep, this, with it being such a winnable tie. It's after the FA Cup tie and before Liverpool away. I've a feeling he will stick with the youth/fringe players but go full strength in the FA Cup. Psycologicly he's going to want those players to have got us to a cup final, and he has a second leg to readdress any problems.

Would consider Bristol on a similar level to Wolves and they gave us plenty of problems , but i cannot see Pep changing the cup team and to be fair they did OK against a fairly strong Leicester team in the second half and extra time , i can see a tight home win or draw and maybe Pep putting some of the big guns on the bench for the 2nd leg. Don't forget this cup is considered a "major" title since PEG achieved immortality last year with his "treble".

Strong team for me in the home leg .We have John Stones and hopefully the Magican to come back .hopefully in the new year so they will need some playing time .Everything is looking good ,try and get 3 goal advantage at the Etihad then that should be job done.

No way should our big guns play in the FA Cup 3rd Rd when there is a Semi-Final only a few days away. The FA Cup should now be our lowest priority, at least until the 6th Rd or if we get knocked out of the League Cup. I agree that we should go strong against Bristol City but maybe ease off in the return leg if we are 3+ goals ahead.
