('cept Sanchez or Alves) ;-)One thing I would say, regardless of whether we fans think this is a good deal, is it's increasingly looking like whoever we want, we get. Pep factor.
Outstanding player, but £50m-£60m on a defender that is probably not going to be first or second choice seems a bit extreme.
Back 3 maybe so it gives us that option I don’t know.

If we are really in for him than it means Pep has had it with Kompany and Van Dijk will be the third option. Come on. You didn't really think we were going to go into the stretch run of the CL and take a chance on Vinny's quad?
IMO you dont spend 50-60m on a third choice player. If we sign him he will be first choice.I still don't know about this. Even with rotation you usually stick to two CB's for the majority of the season unless they get injured. Neither Stones or Otamendi deserve to be dropped and I can't see him being happy sitting on the bench waiting for them to get injured. We've already got Gundy and Bernardo struggling to get game time do we really wanna spend £60 million on another one?
so much wrong with everything in bold.Maguire was signed for £12m, possibly rising to £17m. £40 million tops is a fair price. £20m profit in less than a year. Still £30m cheaper than VVD and with greater potential to develop under Pep.
I get the feeling the VVD situation is just so City can stop Liverpool or Chelsea strengthening rather than us improving. That's not a good way to operate IMO.

Very much doubt that. Lets sign him first and see how he settles in before crowning him our first choice CB. ATM, he wouldn't break up Stones/Ota IMOIMO you dont spend 50-60m on a third choice player. If we sign him he will be first choice.
Got fuck all to do with anyone what pep spends on transfers. Why are so many concerned about the money we spend? We’ve spent £130m on fullbacks in the past 6 months, what does it matter if we spend £60m on a centre back?
