Virgil van Dijk

Our squads looking a bit silly though (in a good way), we're already rocking a bench of Bravo Mangala Danilo Toure B. Silva Gundogan & Aguero at times - Mangala/Toure being the "weak" players there, if we add say VVD, Sanchez & Goretzka as our 3 signings there's not even room for one of them on the bench.

Hard to see that being manageable, but hey, the players all seem happy enough this season & like I say we've already got a crazy strong bench as is.
I can't see anyone complaining about being given a cold wet & windy night off at Stoke. In fact, I think there'd be a deluge of volunteers! :-)

Reading around to gather info so far

- Sam Lee: city are interested

- Ducker (Telegraph): city in driving seat

- Palmer: Liverpool are in the driving seat

- Saints ITK: “Van Dijk transfer is already agreed - all I know is that’s it’s definitely not Liverpool”

- also definitely not playing for saints anymore so he is definitely being transferred somewhere next month

Let’s see how this January goes
Where did the saints itk say that?

Oddschecker

Liverpool 8/11 on

City 13/8 against

So not sure what's going on with sky bet unless oddschecker is not up to date.
I wonder what the odds were on us signing Sanchez in the summer?

One saints itk saying he’s not going to Liverpool and now another saints itk saying he is going to Liverpool.... hmmmmm.

His ideal destination was Liverpool last summer. and with that in mind and the fact he will be first choice for them makes it difficult to see him parked on our bench, This might be a stupid question but i did put this to the forum before we signed KDB so i will ask again, Not seen a lot of him so is he worth the figures being branded about??

Am I hell just think he will. Given the stuff in the summer I don’t think he has the stomach to come and fight here when he will walk into Liverpool’s side
You do have a point re. him walking into the Liverpool starting XI. Let's face it, when you're competing with Lovren and Klavan for a starting spot, it shouldn't be too difficult to push past them. Your other point, about him having the stomach to fight for a spot, is obviously harder to predict. I would like to think that, if he did come to us, he would rise to that challenge. Though it's hard to look beyond Stones and Otamendi (yes, Otamendi) as our first choice CB pairing.

Starting 11 or not, if he came here he’d know he’d get loads of games at the best team in the country. To join a team 20 points behind us with a much weaker squad is mind boggling. Only explanation could be he’s a lifelong dipper fan like the Ox.
