Palace (A) Post Match Thread

Palace gave us a good game despite us controlling it and hardly giving away anything. Except when they cheated their way to a penalty. You can see where Zaha has been for a few years. Too many were below par and we couldn’t turn it around by a moment of individual class. We deserved the win but in all honesty Palace might have deserved something out of this one as well.

As for the kicking this is getting out of hand and it was coming. Peps has mentioned it and that’ll do for me. Zaha should be banned for diving and Puncheon got a yellow that was a straight red but that can’t be changed as far as I know.

Beat Watford and continue our unbeaten run alap. And let’s hope the injuries stop piling because even we can’t cope with so many out.
 
Sane looked isolated all afternoon. He is most effective when a quick give and go lets him use his great pace. Never happened. Bernardo and Gundo do not have a "telepathic" understanding as yet. The transition from defence to attack suffered accordingly. Our system of fluid interchanging to counter blanket defences has to be perfectly executed and timed, even more so on a bumpy short pitch.
Teams also have hours and hours of game footage to study, it makes it harder to surprise and outwit them. Sounds like clutching at straws, i know, but throw in a strong case for "battle fatigue" and we get a game like yesterday. I am beginning to think that 4 trophies is a bridge too far without a big hand from lady luck, even with our squad.

What a weird game of football. We were not at our best and our early passing was poor ( but it did get better) Sane for me was very poor and looks a pale shadow of the player who was destroying teams only about 4 weeks ago. When Eddie saved that penalty I was going mad celebrating because it made the draw seem like a win. But that elation lasted about 45 seconds because when I seen that leg brace go on KDBs leg o felt physically sick and it just soured the game(especially after Jesus injury) I'm not going to go on about the vile challenges and cowardly actions because they've been well publicised on this thread. I'll say I'll take that point and brush ourselves down then give Watford a good twatting tomorrow. P S Chelseas Xmas period games are a total piss take, 4 days rest whlist we have had 3 and 2. Another FA master class.
 
What seems odd is that these vicious tackles on key players started straight after the BBC carried some comments saying in answer to the question - can City be stopped? To which the answer was - yes - if they get serious injuries to big players like De Bruyne and Silva.

Almost immediately after Silva disappears for still unknown reasons and our players are targeted in game after game by vicious tackles. With De Bruyne lucky not to miss the season.

That is either very bad luck or someone was listening and thought - ooh, what a good idea
 
Teams are getting away with scything their way through our team, it's beyond a joke now. Puncheon should have been red carded as should Kane & that vile excuse for a human being Ali...We are not getting any protection from referees, City players committing those fouls would have been sent off instantly and pilloried in the press ...
 
We've got two problems in the team in Gundogan and Bernardo. Neither move the ball quickly enough and don't provide enough threat going forward. Thought defensively we were fine, Sane tried but was too isolated and we're definitely starting to miss overlaps from the fullbacks.
 
Missed the last 15 minutes of the game yesterday and just seen the tackle. Was really worried when I heard about it, fearing the worst.

Now having seen it, and it is a ridiculously reckless tackle the good thing is that Kev was in mid-air when he struck, so much damage gets done when the foot is planted and twisted. Hopefully that will be recovered from very quickly.

Just hope the team can refocus quickly, a win against Watford will send out a demoralising message for the rest of the league
