Alexis Sanchez

I am saying 6 months ago we were prepared to pay 60 million for the fee alone, now we can get the whole package, fee and wages, for the price we were prepared to pay just for the transfer fee alone 6 months ago. Is he a lesser player now than 6 months ago?

I am saying if we know for certainty he will only sign for us we can stand firm. If however we lose him to the rags on principle and pride then it seems daft, but I will be happy whatever path the club take.
We are in a far stronger position to negotiate than we were 6 months ago

Malcom being done and dusted (guessing that's what Hugh means) is the biggest challenge City have to face in overcoming this Sanchez deal in my opinion.

Every penny he gets that Arsenal doesn't is money well spent.

Agree but it could be complicated financially.

He is still going to want either a big signing on fee or huge wage. I'm not a fan of players coming in and getting paid more than others (equal talent or better) as it can cause unrest and lead to a spiralling wage bill. Not sure De Bruyne would be happy for example if Sanchez was being paid £100k a week more than him.

If it is a signing on fee and then wages plus agent fee and £35m it could cost over £100m over the 4 years by which time he will be in his 34th year. It seems a lot of money for someone of that age. There would be no sell on fee. United may have trumped us on Van Persie but he must have cost over £50m for one decent season.

I prefer our buy the young talent strategy, develop them and keep them or if we do sell we make a profit, something we have struggled with over the years. This signing seems to go against our current policy a little.

If it was PSG and not united after him, I don't think too many would be as concerned.

What we should not do is go back to the days of paying whatever anyone wants.

Uniteds approach is very scatter gun. They don't seem to mind having a ridiculously high wage bill (rumours De Gea wants £300k a week now! Absurd for a keeper). They just want to keep the brand alive and they will pay whatever they have to to do that. They haven't had a good transfer strategy for many years, well before Ferguson left. He let our progress cloud his judgement and for one last hurrah he basically ruined them.

Possibly, but Malcom's not been linked with Arsenal for long and the 'finally' suggests he's talking about something that's dragged on, especially since Hugh has been very vocal about Sanchez.

I do hope it is about Sanchez to ManCity at price that the club would be ready to pay
