3 billboards is just brilliant.
But - darkest hour. Why?
Begins with Attlee in the Commons demanding Chamberlain resign. As one mp says, "totally absurd". Attlee was having a go at the whole Conservative benches: "They have seen failure after failure merely shifted along those benches, either lower down or further up. They have been content, week after week, with Ministers whom they knew were failures. They have allowed their loyalty to the Chief Whip to overcome their loyalty to the real needs of the country." Daft thing is that the crisis in May 1940 was prompted by the failure of the Norway campaign - led by Churchill as first Lord of the Admiralty - but it made him PM. After that I'm not sure what the point was of making yet another Churchill film. I'd watch one of him sending a gunboat up the Mersey to help put down a strike or ordering bombing of civilians in 1920s Iraq.
