To put salary levels in context, what are the highest salaries roughly at the top 6?

Us - Yaya £230k
Manure - pogbad £300k
Chelski - Hazard £200k
Arse - Ozil/Sanchez 140k
Dippers - vvd - £150k
Spuds - Kane -£120k

What gets me is that you get some right greedy bastards like a Neymar, Sanchez etc but at the opposite end why is a Harry Kane content at Spuds, not even a hint of him demanding mega bucks.

The downside of Sanchez’s move, wherever he ends up is that it will force wages up to a level across the board that most clubs/fans could have perceived so quickly. It’s similar to the escalation in transfer fees this past couple of windows.

We will have to bite the bullet and join in sooner rather than later

He won’t go Chelsea

If they aren’t willing to pay huge money to hazard they sure as hell aren’t making him earning loads more than hazard

If we don't get him would rather him at the rags Chelsea is a decent outfit and will be better next season and real are nailed on to get us in champs league, let him play RB at utd.

Or players that do motion towards wanting to join "the project" and play under Pep will look at what NOT to do in future. We can walk out of any deal we want if we feel they are taking the piss now, there's many players but only one City!

In all seriousness it's about knowing how much weight/leverage you have at the time of business... we are in a very strong position right now and should use it like we did here. The football, the coach, the facilities, the squad, the chances of silverware... it's all looking very good, not many clubs in the world can offer all of that at this moment in time. If that changes we then will have to pay whatever it takes but we're not at that place so why should we? It's not a disaster that we didn't sign him for those terms. We can go again in the summer.

Exactly mate, posted the exact same earlier on this evening. He’s tried to be clever and ended up looking like he’s going to have to join a club purely for the money, not the end of the world obviously but pretty sure trophies and beautiful football would have been important to him too, he’s just fucked that part up. Serves him right, lol.
And the best part is that he could have had a new contract at Arsenal if all he wanted was money. He didn't, he wanted to be part of a team that was challenging for and winning trophies which he knew he couldn't get at Arsenal. Now all he has done is painted himself into a corner whereby either he swallows his pride, eats humble pie and licks up his own spit by crawling back to city on the terms agreed this summer or he goes to them where he will get more money but he will be just as unhappy, as he was at Arsenal or even unhappier because he wont get to play the free flowing football that he loves. The only club that could give him everything he craved, give or take the odd million, was City, unfortunately he got too smart for his own good and fucked it up. All in my opinion, of course.

Players who are nearing end of contract will always get a higher wage at a new club so won’t necessarily distort things too badly.

True but at the same time the club aren't totally blameless. They dallied all summer and didn't put the money on the table until it was too late. Hazard, Isco and now Sanchez. We're missing out on world class players because we don't wrap up deals quickly enough.
