Bit of a tricky line-up to predict. Part of me thinks he’ll largely stick with the players who have got us this far, but the Cardiff game does give him the opportunity to play a stronger team than in previous LC games and not take unnecessary risks.

I think it will be full strength with the exception of Danilo for Walker at RB, and Bernardo for either Sterling or Sané. Add in Gundo if Silva is back in Valencia.

Some cracking pubs near the ground for Away fans, Nova Scotia and Cottage are 10 minutes walk from the away end and next to the river. he Tobacco Factory is a little nearer bit may be difficult to park close by. Parking is available for a fiver at Bedminster Cricket Club and their bar will be open and food is available and just 5 minutes walk from the away end (two fields adjacent to BCC are run by scallys who charge a tenner.

Have a safe trip.

Hi Cider. Can you recommend any pubs within walking distance of the ground that are away fans tolerant.

Evening all

Another Bristol City Fan popping up on your forum
Thought I would because several of yours did similar before the first leg on our forum and were incredibly helpful with answering questions and helpful advice

Delighted for your current success as I’m more old school who tarted around 1970 and know what the diehard core of your support has been through over the years

I also saw my first ever ‘first division’ game at Maine Road in 72 Or 73 I think - Man City v Arsenal (3-0 or 3-1 IIRC ;) )

Anyway back to practicalities @Sid C - The pubs immediately outside the ground tend to be home fans only - If you take a short walk from Away End up North Street there are some bars , pubs , cafes , shops et and as you walk up North Street away from the ground , one of the first places you will come across is ‘The Tobacco Factory’ - Decent place (Owned by a ******* mind ) with good selection of beers / lagers , good food and one of the bigger bars near the ground

further up North Street is The Hen & Chicken Pub which again is a reasonable size - Will be full of our fans but away fans have been visitors without any problem

I’m not sure Ashton Gate has been the safest place to visit over the years but as everywhere things have toned down and unless fans give it the big un opposition fans have few problems these days and I think like yourselves you will find many happy to share a pint and chat football

I hope you all have a.safe journey to the Gate and a better one than we did with multiple Motorway Closures - Hope you’re down in time for a Cider or two !

Loved the visit to the Etihad - Spectacular stadium and a privlige to watch som Rolls Royce Footballers Live

(Luckily some of ours are not too bad and a real honest hard working group and a joy to support - their endeavours made it a memorable evening and the Home fans I encountered were really decent and down to earth)

I’m not an expert on all things local (as some of yours were) but will try and help if anyone has any questions

Looking forward to another great footballing game on Tuesday whatever the outcome , we are dreamingly hopeful But very realistic ;)

Hi Cider. Can you recommend any pubs within walking distance of the ground that are away fans tolerant.

There's plenty near the ground but the closest ones will be rammed and 'home' only. If you turn right with your back to the away end and walk past the Rising sun and coopers arms, there's a pub we don't use on the left hand side called the Tobacco factory. Away fans are welcome in there as it's owned by a bloke who used to be our mayor and he's a **** if you get my drift. There are loads of pubs further up that rad where you'll be fine.Alternatively there's the Robins on Winterstoke road at the other side of the ground where away support is tolerated.
There's no issue in BS3 with yourselves so you'll be welcome anywhere with the same decorum anybody sensible shows. We do have our fair share of fools but a little respect does go a long way. Act like Utd did and they will find you but I think you're better than that.
If you fancy trying our 'apples', near the SS Great Britain is a pub called the Orchard, 1 beer, 2 lagers and nigh on 30 ciders! If in Bristol, you've got to try it eh?
Over the park from the away end there are plenty of boozers where you'll be welcomed, the Nova Scotia, the cottage and the Denmark as mentioned plus the Bedminster cricket club on Clanage road offers parking, is pretty close and has a very nice bar. Be careful as my learned friend above says as Bedminster cricket club charge a fiver but your friend across the city were ripped off for £20 just to park by their neighbours. Parking near the ground is a nightmare unless you're very early but please bear in mind, resident restrictions apply in some areas. There is a park and ride at Junction 19 wich costs £4 return but it does get busy. Extra buses are being put on for this game but you might have to wait a while after the match.
Alternatively, we have a fans village with live music and beers on draught which is a nice place to be, does get packed though and beer is served in the away end. We also have a restaurant / bar in the South west corner with the biggest screen in the UK but it gets stupidly packed so I wouldn't even try TBH.
Essentially, ignore the other mob across your city, we're a good bunch and you looked after us well at yours so anywhere apart from the 2 mentioned and your welcome will be reciprocated.

It’s a lesser trophy for me that for some reason is held in high regard on here.

However once in the 2nd leg of a semi, we might as well go for it and make the changes on Sunday leaving the first team fresh for West Brom.

On that basis I would start a strong side.
As a young kid at Wembley watching City beat Newcastle in 76 I’m still from the old school that every trophy matters . Hang your head in shame. ‘ it’s a lesser trophy for me’ .....have you heard yourself , I take it you’re not doing the hard yards to Ashton Gate. Cherry Picker .

Very hard game to predict. Of course we should go through if first 11 plays but with Mangala and Toure playing we'll be over run a bit. The crowd may get to us. I fear penalties.

They are a decent team but they’re also in a horrible run of form, haven’t won since Boxing Day and have scored only 1 goal in 5 matches which was the pen against us. I get the feeling that as much fun as they’ve had from this cup run it’s been a big distraction and I suspect that there will be some relief when it’s over

no matter how small/crap people think this trophy is, the reality is City are ahead in a 2 leg cup tie against a Championship side with the next game being a final at Wembley.

Not getting to the final will be seen as a slight on the club, you know that's how it will be overspun, so qualifying is the only option at the expense of tired legs.

If you're not in a rush it's walkable P2 but it's a fair hike (40 minutes I suppose). Jump on either a water taxi or the 24 bus and you'll be a fair bit closer.
Morning mate .have you any recommendations where to park as have read parking is really poor round the ground mate getting to bristol about 5:30 mate ?

Firm bekiever that winning trophies can breed a winning mentality and a desire for more. Very few of the players who won it in 2016 are still here or even regulars now, so getting through and winning it would be a great boost for everyone.

Parking is a bit of a mare unfortunately

Best bet if getting here at that time (Fills up early but 5.30ish should be fine is Bedminster Cricket Club (Clanage Road)
£5 and you can get a pint there too if you fancy - 5- 10 min stroll to ground

Be sure to park at the Cricket Club as the arses in the next field (In front the nursery) were charging at least double that for Your red neighbours

You should be fine for on street parking that early, Bedminster Cricket Club should be open by then, it's a fiver with the bar open and food available, five minutes walk to the away end and easy getting away after the game. Post Code BS3 2JX

Hi Mr T, at 5-30, you should be okay for street parking near the ground but any later and you probably won't find anywhere. Most away fans head for the already mentioned Bedminster cricket club at BS3 2JX. Nice and easy in and out, a short walk to the stadium and very sociable. Just be careful that you park in the cricket club at a fiver and not in the next door field where you will be ripped off.
One word of advice, even if your sat nav tells you to go on the M4 and M32 into the city, DON'T! Stay on the M5 as the city centre is a total car park at the mo. If you're heading for the cricket club, use J19 (A369) which take you to the entrance or, alternatively use J18 (A4) which brings you in very close to Ashton Gate.
Have a safe trip.
