Why would you when Shane has spoken ?
hmmm.... waiting for City watch to tweet.....
It only rises by a few million, so if we want him to come in the summer we're probably not too bothered about that part. I call bullshit."City are ready to trigger the €65million (£57m) release clause of Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte’s contract.
according to Spanish broadcaster Cadena Ser, who claim City have contacted Bilbao in an effort to do the deal this month before his exit clause rises at the end of the season."

This feels to me like the Bernardo Silva transfer, could be bull, but could happen very quickly just as easily. It only rises by a few million, so if we want him to come in the summer we're probably not too bothered about that part. I call bullshit.
This I find problematicHad major injury
Refused us
makes his price higher
Dip in form
And now we should sign him ?
Seems pretty desperate. He's almost 24 now and in the ~2 years since we last tried to sign him, he hasn't really stepped up to the next level. He was a prospect at 22 and he's still a prospect at ~24. I find that alarming. Hell Núñez and Álvarez are both rated more than him at Bilbao. I don't like this signing at all. This I find problematic
You don't think Peps coaching would help him step up ?Seems pretty desperate. He's 24 now and in the ~2 years since we last tried to sign him, he hasn't really stepped up to the next level. Oh sure, Pep's coaching would help anyone step up. Having said that, you can turn Stones into Pique, but you can't turn Mangala into Puyol. There's a ceiling for every player. Pep can help a player hit that ceiling, but it's still up to the player to define what that ceiling is. I've seen nothing to indicate that he has improved over the last couple of years. You don't think Peps coaching would help him step up ?

True, but I don't think Pep has ever believed he could do much with Mangala. IF we were to get Laporte Pep must believe he has seen a player he can work on.Oh sure, Pep's coaching would help anyone step up. Didn't he burn his bridges completely with us eighteen months ago?
Because despite what Craig Bellamy and Phil & Gary Neville think City can't spend what they want despite being sponsored by a "Nation State". Why nobody has pulled them up on this absolute shite they spout about our expenditure is beyond me - Oh yeah its fucking SKY - Uniteds arse licker in chief!
We can spend a pretty penny on players and spread the cost (ammortisation prob 10Mill p/a on a five year deal like this one) but its not limitless and surely we'd like to see some VFM and not pay through the eyes and nose like we have had to previously whilst attempting to get to where we are now.
exactlyJFE for north of £20million or Laporte. Who represents more value? A 30 year old has been or a 23 year old with great potential. All about opinions but I would far rather we spend on the young potential.
