FA Cup Games 27/28 Jan & 6/7 Feb replays

All VAR will do is see players exaggerating every single bit of contact (more so than now) in hope that the ref will take a look at it. That penalty on Salah just shown that.

That is something that needs to be addressed before it's used widely, but players exaggerated without it anyway. I don't think Salah did anything different to what he would normally.

Why are so many of you so desperate for VAR to fail? I mean if we can get it right it's good but if it goes wrong we're stuck with the shitty system we have now.

I think a lot of people need to try and be more open minded
What makes football unique is the non stop nature of it. All decisions could be ‘game changing’ particularly given the speed City and the Dippers can counter-attack.
If Mignolet had saved that header and it’d gone for a corner and West Brom had then scored, Barry wouldn’t have been given offside. If the player putting the cross in for Salah had fouled a West Brom player before he’d crossed it, they’d have only looked at the penalty.
Also, if it had kicked off at 3 this afternoon, it’d be 1-3 and Barry wouldn’t be on a yellow card.

At last some sense. I hate the dippers as much as anyone, but both VAR decisions were correct. It's a great example of how refereeing errors can decide matches... 2 match changing decisions incorrect in a few minutes. while not perfect, it's taking too long in its current format, surely the most important thing is to get more things right, which it has!

If the Barry offside hadn't been given against us, I'd have been going mad. Same if the penalty wasn't given to us.....

So you know for sure that no.West Brom players had their shirts pulled earlier in the move & can guarantee if if happens later, at a corner, the ref will give them.a pen ?

Too many luddites on here

BOTH DECISIONS ARE CORRECT. If City were adversely affected by these decisions, there'd be even more cry babies on here
I don't care how long it takes.
If you're worried about time, get an independent time keeper in (another hope of mine).

VAR (in all sports) works 99% of the time.

Take your heads out of the sand
Fair comment but that's not the point for me. It's taking the fast nature away from the game. Will start watching cricket more

So what should be a 2-2 now would have been a 1-3 without VAR.

Neither decision would have been given without it and both are technically right but if given every time they happen in a game by VAR as so frequent we will get some very long games.

What was wrong was rewarding the over theatrical fall that almost certainly only happened to attract attention of the VAR monitor to the incident. Which will end up happening too often and leading to penalties at every corner.

Or it w
The trouble was if that VAR penalty is technically right - as it was - then there might be 10 in every game as that sort of touch happens over and over but rarely gets given because of the theatrical reaction of the attacker.

If that is now overlooked by VAR then this will be a cricket score.

And games will end at midnight.

Or it will stop it almost immediately... something many have complained about for years. I'd give them all for 2 or 3 matches, watch it stop all the holding which is ridiculous currently

Why change something that works?

Like when were were cheated 2 years in a row via spurs with offside goals
and the semi final last year where arsenal were let off.

Needs refining, but in the long term is for the benfit of the game,

It won't lead to any penalties from corners. Do you know why? Because within 2 weeks there'll be no more shirt pulling at corners.

Which is why it's meant for game changing decisions.

Those were game changing decisions. And both were right.

If people start splitting hairs it will never work.

It works in a multitude of sports. It will work in this one too.

Yep, old stubborn bastards don’t want change!

VAR is supposed to be used for 'clear and obvious errors', so if it's taken the ref the best part of 3 minutes to make his mind up, it can't have been a clear and obvious error.
