Barry is backing toward the keeper but he is not close enough to make contact. The keeper pushes him really hard in the back.

Nobody can deny that's a pen if any defender does it & the player then dives, as Salah does.

So the ref reviews the incident sees a clear push on Barry, ignores it & disallows the goal because he impeded the keeper afterwards.

Eithef that or he only got to see the goal incident because the video ref decided the push on Barry doesn't count. But Salah diving after his shirt was pulled to prevent him runnig offside, is a pen.

Fucking garbage system.
 
It was never a pen in my opinion yet VAR reckoned it was ! So there' s the problem pens get given still with this ridiculous system. You cannot have VAR deciding on anything that is subjective like the Salah incident. Offside and ball out or in or wherea foul takes place yes, subjective ones like was it a foul of not definitely no.

It was a clear penalty. Salah made a meal of it but you can't pull people back how the defender did. And you know what, it's a good thing. A few more games like that and people will stop grabbing and pulling people in the area. If they keep it up that is....

But just watching it on motd now, if they are nitpicking though to find Barry offside for WBA's goal, why isn't the push in the back on him considered an offence ?

In a Rugby rules var , the goal would be disallowed & a pen given.

VAR Does not mean correct decisions.... this last week has proven that. It means selective decisions = stitch ups......

How exactly? It got every decision right at Anfield tonight.... it won't be perfect, but will ensure a load more decisions are correct

That's your opinion mate i thought Salah proper dived for the pen and WBAs goal should have stood so all a matter of opinion.

If that was a pen at Liverpool then every game is going to have 20 a side. The Chelsea game was full of iffy decisions and didnt even go to review when should. etc. They are breaking their own guidelines with players and managers pressuring the refs and decisions that are not a clear and obvious mistake being reviewed and changed. I suspect If that hadn't been Liverpool at home it wouldn't have even been looked at. It will kill the thrill of football. The aguerooooooooo moment would lose its magic. It is so inconsitently applied it is not fair. Refs will feel the pressure from certain media outlets that means certain clubs will always benefit. If you cannot see that then you are kidding yourself. Sky and the bent betting syndicates will be loving the possibilities it brings. If i thought it would be fair and straight forward i would get behind it. As it stands it plays further into the hands of those who want to manipulate outcomes. Anything else is just naive wishful thinking.
 
I was watching the game until the 3rd West Brom goal was disallowed by VAR then turned it off as I felt cheated.
They need to bring it in gradually similar to the goal line technology.
 
Wires crossed me thinks @IH8MUFC im not saying it was wrong in that game I'm saying with VAR no more incompetence as they call it when it's down right cheating what some teams get away with over the years...
Found it funny Natcho getting a offside call with introduction of VAR were they just taking the piss because of all the offside goals calls he had that wasn't offside when he was playing for us? The call for VAR wasn't necessary he was never offside....

Didn't interfere with play (although I believe if you're offside when the balls played forward you're offside) made a meal as in dived.

Good. It will stop all the blatant pulling and holding that goes on in the area in every match. 2 or 3 matches where there given, will stop it! So that's a positive....

In terms of refs feeling pressure. We have that now anyway. Those clubs already get the benefits in the old system. VAR will only make the whole process more accountable. Reviewing things will lead to more correct decision. If it goes to review, it's harder to make blatant incorrect decisions.. and if I'm wrong then get rid... but at least give it a chance before slating it.

It's not perfect, needs tweaking in terms of the length of time it's taking during the trial. But it will lead to significantly more correct calls IMO

Barry was stood right in front of the keeper in an offside position. Clearly interfering with play

He went down like a girl, but was pulled back so Pen was rightly awarded

The most obvious offence on the wba disallowed offside goal when u watch the replay is that minulet twice pushes Barry in the back (more of a foul than the one on Salah). It should have been a pen to wba as that was the first offence

See still a matter of opinion, and the sight of Captain Dunsel having to go and watch the telly during the middle of a game is quite frankly a bit sad.
 
going to drive the refs insane, with the constant review in the ear and having to doubt everything you ever give. Implemented so, so poorly, and wilfully so.
