Wilfried Zaha

Zaha is too inconsistent and would be an expensive squad option and wouldn't be suitable in the current system. However if this is a Clarkie then as you were.

I've said before that this is the kind of player that everybody would be singing about if he joined Liverpool. Not a big name, but a player that has shined playing for smaller teams. Another Mane/Salah type player.

Can you just drop what you're doing and push a deal like this through in 2 days though? Personally, i don't think he's at our level and I hope we wouldn't reactivately sign a player who won't come cheap just because another player will be out for (what sounds like) a few weeks. If it were always the plan i wouldn't be as against the idea but no panic buys please.

Not a bloody chance Palace sell their best player, the guy who's shoulders their premier league status falls on, who is home grown, and whom we only have 48 hours to negotiate with for 30 to 40 million! Not to mention he's still young and they would be right fucked about getting any sort of replacement. 40-50 million easily.
 
If the stories are true this is not just suddenly now on. It was being considered and presumably worked on for a few days before Sane got injured. It was not prioritised because we hoped to get Fred this window. But if that has been put back to Summer they may well want to accelerate this option instead. They may have done the basics already.

Would Palace sell? Not easily. Would Zaha ask to come? That might decide it.

I also believe Pep could really make a good player from this guy and as a back up to stop Sane having to play every game a great option.

He is the kind of player you could bring on with half an hour to go against a worn out defence and cause mayhem in our system.
 
Not enough time now to get this done unless we were to throw a couple of squad players in that Palace need.
 
I would be genuinely excited if he signed, super fast and super strong, guardiola would just need to refine his game, could be an absolute beast.
 
People are saying no to him, but those same people will be moaning on Wednesday that we have no width and not much pace.

Literally makes zero sense.
 
Got told earlier the Fred deal was off. City waiting for the summer now instead after not agreeing with the fee, and after Sane's injury, a winger was being targeted now instead. You'd have to think Zaha fits the bill. Not really enamoured personally, but ya know...fwiw, the person who told me this has no idea who the player is either.
