We paid 50m for Sterling's potential two and a half years ago. Mahrez is in his prime and a far more talented player imo. 50m is a bargain in today's market.

It's debatable that Mahrez is more talented than Sterling but he can still fit in the team (even at £60m).

Foden, Diaz and the like will get their chance in good time, but they are still kids. Iniesta, being a heralded product of Barca academy, didn’t start regularly holding down a first team place til he was 22.
In the meantime, we need talented senior players with a proven pedigree in this league. Mahrez fits the bill to a tee.
