We also used on this forum the piece from the MEN that showed figures from GMP, that United had been showing worse figures on actually attendees where in some cases 20+ thousand difference. The figures collated were for H & S reasons, confirming that the Rags were cooking the books.
Didn`t a certain Mr.Swales do this on a regular occurrence at Maine Road.47,000 against Charlton at home when we won 5-1 to gat promotion. My arse it was.More like 64000 !!!
You are correct.
I had forgotten all about that.
An emphatic win, a sunny day and then came news of the Bradford fire......

Think we lost 4-0 at Blackburn that day.

we did - for some reason the heavily left footed Gerry Taggart was deployed as a right back - into the teeth of a gale as I remember. And the away end at Ewood was part building site - wouldn't be allowed today. The stand would be ok but never Taggart at RB................

I was there but remember very little of the game. Abut 40 of us got off the train, the last stop before Blackburn and had about 3 1/2 hours in a boozer. Taxi's to the ground, we should have stayed in the pub.

Remember Blackburn away was in the terraces next to the dugout and crawled through the fencing to get close to the bench, loads of Blues giving Mel Machin abuse as Moulden was on the bench and Taggart was getting skinned out of position,John Bond was in the tunnel at half time doing interviews for Granada then some news of Hillsborough filtered through and once it got to 4-0 and word spread football didn’t really matter that much.

And missed all the fun????? That was what City was all about in those days - we just deferred promotion 'til Bradford

That last sentence made me smile.

Very good.

Think Scott Sellars ripped poor Gerry Taggart apart at right back. Although I thought Taggart was originally a centre back. Four of us went in a car and all thought at first that the Liverpool fans had played up. Was chilling to see the scenes at Hillsborough later that day as those fences were a safety hazard with large terraced crowds.

so Ibra Dimmer Switch has basically come and said he wanted to move to LA before the rags came calling, and that his head was always in LA.

Basically admitting that the Rags have paid him a shit ton of money to convince him to go there instead and that he never wanted to be there.
