United (H) Post Match Thread

Should have taken the chances in the first half.

People digging at Pep: we create the most chances and concede the least.

Players have to take responsibility for bottling. I've been saying all season i look forward to seeing them tested at crucial moments because then we'll see their mental strength. They failed today but it's how you react to that that counts. Big performance on Tuesday now, heads up.

Was a bad day at the office. It's done. Maybe 'typical City' is still part of our make-up, maybe it always will be?? In reality we will win the league - failing an almighty cock up over the last 6-games. We'd have settled for that and the cup win at the start of the season so that's all good. As for today, I approached it as a given that we would win; hubris however is a wonderful teacher...

It was 10% ref 90% bottling it today mate. We let Pogbad score 2.. pogbad!

Pogshite if you don't mind...

10% ref hahaha don't know what game you were watching more like 50% letting there tackles go whilst free kicking everyone of ours....
Never mind one game and it's won.

Well the united fans I was with were along with the commentators.

So it was undoubtedly intentional? Look I would have given it because it stopped a goal scoring chance but that isn’t the rule and the rule needs looking at. As fans and the same with commentators who have been around a bit we apply common sense. It’s hard nowadays to get a penalty for handball. It’s definitely a recent directive.

Pep put out an understrength side when the title was there for the taking against our greatest rivals. Unforgivable.

At least it proved we are miles from the finished article as a squad. We still have a lot of work to do on that front.

This is what worries me.. if pep can’t manage it who can?? Maybe it’s just a part of our make up

I'm so annoyed by this result, the ref, the defenders the missed chances... the whole week has been a right shitter for City.

Having said that every team has weeks like this, we haven't had many to put up with this season at all... our tolerance to deal with things seems to be going down looking at some of the overreactions this week, that should tell you how good we've had it.

Lets not act like spoiled brats about it, dust ourselves off and lift the team to go again on Tuesday. The atmosphere should be rocking on Tuesday, if the players don't show up and the place is rocking then those fans can complain all they like about what performance was owed. It should have been cauldron of noise today, it was anything but that in the second half, why can't the Etihad be a fortress for us?

Am I out on my own saying we're better with Stones in the back 4 regardless of his occasionally brainfarts?! I think I know what kind of abuse is coming.

A few hundred million worldwide audience see us humbled by Liverpool ,and another debacle in front of or another massive worldwide audience.. How's that for building the Brand Pep. When we stagger across the finish line of this Title as inevitably we will the glory for the Name we could have acquired has been flushed down the pan.

Well if Young didn't touch the ball with his hand it would have been a simple tap in for Sterling.
Haha think about that!

A that’s not the rule

B there is no such thing as a sterling simple tap in

Unless I’m wrong handball has to be intentional it’s a grey area the rule needs clarifying

As soon as I heard Gundogan was going to be playing, my heart sank, the game was already lost.

Yeah he scored, but apart from that he was mostly a passenger in the game, I swear he makes runs to make himself unavailable for a pass, he's hardly ever involved with any build up play when we attack and never around to defend when we're under the cosh, he's Mr Invisible for most of the game.

The question I keep asking myself is: how? How did we not go on to win today?
Because we turned off for the start of the second half, seems to becoming a bit of a habit recently. Once they got a goal we shit our pants. Well that and the missed first half chances and the **** of a ref didn't help.

played united 5 times and has done that twice, granted this one was much bigger but as much as he is a great manager I get the feeling he just doesn't care what supporters want(not that that's always a bad thing!)

From where I stood, Gundogan's header straight at De Gea and his scooped effort against the post were just as straightforward chances as the ones Sterling contrived to miss. Both are equally culpable for us not killing the game off. Both exhibited poor technique when it was required.

They were and he is. The two cost us that game. It should have been out of sight. Sterling is never going to be a top class player because he just can’t finish. All his other work is good but that was dross. Pep should have played a forward today.
