United (H) Post Match Thread

There were two penalties - one in each half. Blatant handball right under our and the lino's noses. And Aguero cleaned out and left for dead in their area in the second half.

That game should have been won by HT and by a record first half score since derbies ever began. But apart from our comical defending and Raheem's woeful finishing, the Time Lord reffed this game the way I fancy he has never reffed a game all season, and will not replicate it in any game win which he officiates the rest of this season. it had to be seen to be believed. I was left totally incredulous by some of the free kicks that he was awarding MANUre. Sterling got rugby tackled early on in the first half, nothing given. He then, a minute or two later, dribbles round three of them and Atkinson blows for a fictitious foul. And that was the pattern for the whole of the second half. Every contact, whether we won the ball, and came away with it, was sanctioned a foul. I was left wondering whether someone at PL HQ had deemed that the title should not be won so soon before the season finishes. It was inept reffing, it was bias, masquerading as blinkered!

Apart from the blatant handball I agree with the vast majority of your post

Christ there are some fannies in here.

It's been a shit week in an otherwise ridiculous season so lets cut the bull shit, especially that surrounding Pep.

The league is done and we have 2 bits of silver. Calm the fuck down.
Christ- has the complacency taught us nothing over the last week ?
This league is most certainly not won.

We needed 1 win from 7 this afternoon.

Now we need 2 wins from 6.

After next weekend, I predict we'll need 2 wins from 5. I cannot see us winning at Spurs without Fernandino and going there with morale where it will inevitably be having lost the derby and having been dumped out of the CL.

If god forbid the unthinkable were to happen and we lost away at West Ham, we'll need 2 from 4 and will have probably just lost 5 games on the bounce.

This is not yet a crisis, but it could turn into one quite quickly.
Why do you think we'll be without Fernandinho at Spurs? Did he get sent off and I missed it? The rule on umpteen yellows getting a ban stopped being in force after the Everton game.

As much as I like him, and as much as not following runners in the second half also cost us, and a quite bizarre refereeing performance that really has to be questioned, Sterling cost us the game today, and one of the most memorable moments in our history (thrashing them to win the title) that was obviously there for the taking.

Will take me a while to forgive that.

We need to make sure this week is not the start of a momentum shift - expect nothing less than a massive scare for Liverpool at least now on Tuesday.

We were quite incredible in that first half and should have been out of sight. Losing that game the way we did is fucking ridiculous. Reminiscent of last season when we play well but can’t stop goals for shit. Totally understand the team selection, and it was fully vindicated by the first half. We do seem a little soft though when we don’t have everything our own way. We lack a leader in adversity perhaps.

Totally spot on. The crowd were immense today too first half. I very much doubt that will be repeated Tuesday now. The fans are flat. It was so flat coming out of the ground and having to suffer listening to them twats blasting out their shite songs.

A really really annoying day and week.

Man up for crying out loud. Stumble to the title ? If you win the title you win it and celebrate it, rags are just another game these days, bigger fish to fry

No point bothering @rnblade , he won't reply. It's taken me numerous posts trying to engage him in conversation before realising he's no interest in having a discussion. Maybe he is incapable.

All he'll do is post the same rubbish over and over, very rarely post anything positive but you'll find him in the Match Day thread repeating the same negative shite.

Quite frankly, I believe him to be a complete fucking idiot.

I just can not understand how a once in a lifetime opportunity to win the Premiership against the Rags can be considered less important than chasing a lost cause on tuesday. Barking madness.

Christ all mighty.
Is he wrong?

This week has exposed our lack of mental grit and after a season where we were running away with the title and expected to win it in record time, we're now looking at late April at the earliest. Coupled with the Champions League embarrassment and all the progress from this season has gone from mind blowing to crawling across the finish line.

Thanks for this. Probably saves me a lot of energy.

May I remind anyone saying the foul on Aguero wasn't a red card, of the following:

"Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play."

It matters not that he got the ball. He was wildly out of control, endangering an opponent and ended up going over the top. It's a straight red, all day long.
