United (H) Post Match Thread

The 10 yellows rule expires next Sunday, so Fernandinho does have a two game ban.

Actually were both wrong. Although Fernandinho picked up his 10th yellow card he only gets a one match ban. The 2 match ban lapsed on the 1st of April.

The team line up saw us put in one of the best first halves of the season.

I'd like to know what was said at half time because they came out and played like it was done and going through the motions. Even at 2-2 with 30 minutes to go. Plenty of time to reassert ourselves. That's where the inquest should start.
First half was good but we’d have been flying if Kevin was playing. Mourinho changed tactics at half time and pep did diddly squat to nullify it. With Liverpool’s tactical mistake, pep compromised today by having one eye on Tuesday. The only redeemer is that we go through to the semis on the back of this but deep down, winning by 3 clear goals is possible and also wishful thinking.

Ask Gavvo. Sounds like I'm having a go at him but I'm not, just genuinely don't get how he sees it like he does.

We all see things differently I guess. Believe me Ive claimed so many decisions against them over the years you couldn't count them. And watching it and disagreeing with Gary Neville was more than a bit odd. Maybe Im stuck in the time when tackles were allowed I dont know.

They are not rules, hilts, they are Laws! And they were not applied today as they should have been. And as for using my eyes, that's exactly what I did, as did most of 323 I expect. It was right in front of us!

Nothing of substance there mate I have said why it’s a grey area. If you disagree fine, if you can tell me why I will happily engage.

Yes, typical City is alive and well.

If we’d lost because our opponents had been better throughout the game, then fair enough, but we battered the scummy bastards in the first half and should have been four or five ahead.

Instead, we allowed them back into it and ruined what should have been a glorious day in the history of Manchester City.

However, "Seven Minutes" Atkinson's rôle in the result must not be understated; he was absolutely diabolical today. How the fuck wasn’t the assault on Sergio a penalty?

If he’s the best we have, no wonder none of our referees is going to the World Cup.

At half time we were saying that the 2-0 lead could be dangerous as Mourinho had a chance to get them going so we HAD to come out strong in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Yet when we came out it was obvious immediately that no one was taking responsibility, we weren’t clearing the ball in dangerous situations, we weren’t winning 50/50 balls and no one was imposing themselves on the game. I’d love to know what was said in the drsssing room at half-time

That allowed them to get their heads up and we showed, yet again, that when teams do that and have a go, we lose our shape and our heads. And when we concede we then go to pieces completely. There’s a real problem somewhere with this team, whether of mentality, organisation or both when we’re on the back-foot.

Guardiola says he only knows one way to play and of course that’s an exaggeration to a large degree but he doesn’t seem to have the one weapon in his armoury that he needs, which is the ability to shut up shop when necessary and absorb a bit of pressure. We saw Klopp’s team do that in the second half and we’ve seen Mourinho make a career of it. We needed to do that on Wednesday for an hour and today for 45 minutes but Pep doesn’t seem able to do it and serious questions have to be asked of him.

One big problem with pep is he doesn’t make subs at the right time. At 2-2 we needed someone like kev on to give us back a fighting edge not when the 3 rd goal goes in.

I was screaming for a sub at 2-1.

He waits and waits and fucking waits when everyone can see what’s about to happen

Makes me laugh every time I hear this "Laws" bollocks. It's a sport with RULES. Laws can only be made by acts of parliament.

I for one don't think the Liverpool game is over

No chance after that shower. No game management, no changes when they weren't at it in the second half, shit and to what should have been a great season
If the fans dont believe what hope do the players have? Get a grip.

It was too fucking good at half time. Suck it it up blues, this is how it feels to be City. Bad is really bad and good is really good. Love to you all x

The last two games have really taken the shine off a brilliant season, yes we have a cup in the bag and will eventually win the league, but not as convincingly as we should have, Pep needs to be congratulated for what he's got the team doing this season, but for me he messed up completely the last two games with team selection on both occasions.

Against Liverpool, he effectively played with 10 men, lost our width, put undue pressure on the fullbacks and played straight into Liverpool's hands.

Today he played without a striker and our player of the year, yes we were two up, and should have been 4 or 5, a striker in the position of Sterling would have buried at least one of the chances. Pep's actually done more damage than good, confidence will be poor going into Tuesday, trying to win 3-0 just to get to extra time.

Our best team and formation in the last two games would have given us a greater chance for Tuesday and probably a closer score line from the first leg, the same line up without changes would have won today and the league, building more confidence going into the second leg.

I don't believe that our players couldn't have coped with three games in a week, unless injured.

I hope the players can find something amazing for Tuesday and at least get to extra time. I don't expect us to win the league until West Ham now.

Just seen it again, and I bet it's a stoner at the other end. No attempt to get his hand out of the way and the ball is diverted out of harms way! He got away with it as the commentators suggest on the clip.

Fair enough. Personally studs up on Sergio's ankle is a pen and a red for me but I guess we'll agree to disagree.

Our players made far more mistakes than the referee , agreed Atkinson was abject but so were our players when we missed gilt edged chances , Pep and to some extent the referee were not the problem today.
