United (H) Post Match Thread

He's our manager, not a supporter.

It's nice to have a connection, we had it with Mancini, but that was a rare occurrence.

Yes, thats true, but maybe thats the difference between winning and losing at the top level.

I don't see how a club can succeed without absolute commitment form the entire group and that includes the manager, how can that happen if the guy doesn't fully commit to the club and the support?

Look at where the long term success has happened...
Ferguson, Henkyes, Paisly, Shankly, Clough etc Us in the 60's under Joe Mercer...

Its all in or we just become Chelsea...

I agree that Mancini was the one that fully committed to us. 2 years in Pep's looking like he's managing a career project.

Sorry if I'm sounding over negative, but I think we've seen this week where the cracks are, its the last 1 or 2% between being very very good, and becoming a dominant force...

I'm the same. Have felt much worse after derby losses. It almost doesn't matter because of the smokescreen that it is creating about the rags' inadequacies which will I feel create serious problems for them next year.

As for today, truly shocking reffing from atkinson, same re: finishing from Sterling, shocking behaviour from the rags (to be expected when they are hoping to cling onto a lead - it's their version of game management) and shockingly lax attitude from us early second half.

The fact that a team of such complete and utter dogshite can accidentally score three goals makes me chuckle at the farcical hilarity of it all.

Exactly.

As for Atkinson. It was obvious it was going to be a bad day when he gave nothing for this

They're doing sweet fuck all is what they're doing. Giving Smalling a nice unhindered run in on Ederson. Yes, he was marginally offside, but why not track your man? Otamendi goes with him, he doesn't score.

I can’t believe that watching it. It’s incredible. Schoolboy defending

It’s true and also being out of control with studs showing is a foul and a red, taking out a player when he is control of the ball is a foul.
Ashley Young made that challenge with impunity after he realised the referee was never going to book him as long as he had a hole in his arse.

The reason Fern and Ota went mental was because they knew exactly what was going on with the officiating

Trying to look on the bright side... Great though it would have been to clinch the title against the rags, the euphoria wouldn't have lasted long before the let down of likely getting knocked out of the CL on Tuesday. The rags would have been laughing at us by mid week even if they'd been pissed off tonight. So in some ways, when (not if) we win the title against Swansea or West Ham, it will be a better way to cap a phenomenal season off.

That said I'm devastated we couldn't even get a draw.

Sorry mate but can't be having that.

Who gives a shit what they think if we go out of the UCL? We went further than them in that competition regardless. If I had the choice I'd have preferred to win today than Tuesday. We'd still have to win three matches against elite opposition to lift the UCL which is unlikely. But to win one match, one more half against our inferior yet biggest rival. What an opportunity blown.

I'll laugh at them when they get beaten by Spurs. That's the nature of tribalism, but it'll take a while for me to get over today. What an opportunity blown.

Glad you find it funny, cos i dont

I've drowned my sorrows with some reduced priced scotch eggs. Cannot believe we lost but as some wag said as we left the ground - the treble is still on! I had to admire his optimism.

Did the fans boo Guardiola at the end or is that some made up bullshit from Danny Mills and whatever shit TV station he's working for?

It wasn't just a one off derby match though, it was the derby match to win the league!! It meant so much more but it didn't to Pep.

The only thing Pep got wrong today was not making the changes sooner. The team he put out was good enough to win as the first half showed. Sterling puts away his chances and we wouldn't be having this conversation now. Same with Atkinson, if he'd just done his job properly.

Ok my last comment on the matter. IMO Young wasn't out of control, and I dont think he took out a player who was in control of the ball. So I dont think it was a penalty. We will have to agree to disagree but please none of the "Rag" crap or "fool" just because we disagree, I just find that a bit daft tbh. Im not calling anyone for having a different opinion, I just didnt see it in the same way you did. End of really.

I didn’t call you a rag I’m not that mean. If you are travelling at that speed with your studs up by definition you are out of control. It’s the exact type of challenge that the authorities wish to stop. In this era you don’t slide in with studs up because it’s reckless and can cause serious injury. This is not new. If you are saying his studs weren’t up and he wasn’t sliding in at speed that is an opinion. Just not one based on the events we can see on the replays.

It’s a leg breaker for sure and doesn’t belong in the game

Does todays result, now mean Liverpool will have to play Utd for the 'we beat City' Cup - I really hope they have nothing else this season

I have much more of an issue with the rugby tackle on Sterling which whilst it wouldnt have been a penalty was more of an assault and certainly gave an indication that we get bugger all from him anyway.
