United (H) Post Match Thread

This is one of the great club sides in my lifetime (I’m 39) in terms of football.

It deserved so much more..

Fallen at the last hurdle.

Would I have taken this at the start of the season? Without a fucking doubt.

Do I feel short changed now... yep.

We could have absolutely smashed it.

Heartbreaking day but in August we’d all have signed for a 13 point lead even if it meant losing to those cvnts in such a sickening fashion

I can only surmise that anyone not bothered by peps starting 11 for a game against the red shite in a title winning game isnt really a proper blue and i look forward to proving to me otherwise.
Today that game didnt mean as much to pep as it did to us and for that im really perturbed
We were fucking two nil up at half time and should have been 4/5. Two sterling chances and a Gundogan sitter? How could we have set up better?

I'm as pissed off as anybody with the result but perhaps "typical City" only lives on in the minds of us, the fans, not Pep and the players.

Think back to April 2013 - almost a perfect reverse of tonight, with Utd 15 points clear and cruising to the title. We won and closed the gap to 12 points with 7 games left. We enjoyed our victory and the rags were of course pissed off, but nobody seriously thought a Utd collapse was imminent, and when they eventually won the title it was in no way "stained".

Winning tonight would have been awesome but I honestly feel that winning it in two or three weeks will feel every bit as good.

To win the league will always be good but winning it away to West Ham is not every bit as good as winning it against the rags.

Amazed at some blues attitude today. We could have beat our derby rivals AND won the league, i’ll repeat.. beat thr shite AND WON THE LEAGUE! unfortunately our manager tbought it not important enough. Shame on him and shame on you

Bollocks mate, total bollocks. I bet at half time you wasnt moaning and you were actually loving the fact that we were 2-0 up, even though it should have been 4-0

The issue here is that the 11 players out on the pitch let us down, not the fucking manager who since arriving has made us one of the most attractive teams in europe to watch and on the brink of winning the premier league whilst breaking domestic records and still with the possibility of clawing back a 3-0 deficit against liverpool

Went out with the missus tonight, nice meal and then cinema... just came back home... still fucking pissed. I know it's "just football" but I just don't get how the team self destruct like this twice in a row now.

Lol, atmosphere lost us the game ha ha, Tuesday we are 3 0 down due to a shit performance and you think we can turn that round? Doubt it, today we could clinch a trophy against the scum 2 0 up and fucked it, we couldn't have been in a better position and we blew it, fuck Tuesday we blew that last Wednesday, but it is the fans to blame, the ref to blame, it's never the manager or the players, it's always someone else to blame

I think you should go back & read what I've said. At no point did I say I thought we would do it on Tuesday, I said it was Peps priority.

I also didn't say it was the fans 'fault'. I simply said the atmosphere was awful.

Does anyone know what pep said in his post match press conference? Cant stand to watch any kind os sports news at the moment. In fact will probably stay away from ssn for a week,
or until we next win

He said we played well, thinks the fans won't be disappointed and that his team selection had no bearing on the result.

Pep has fucked up big time this week.
Behave mate....you telling me once we do lift the league title you will sit back and go ‘oooh hold on a minute, we didnt win
Bollocks.....at the end of the day fortunes have changed as it used to be us who could only win a derby for the bragging rights with united then still going on to then lift a title.

Now the boot is on the other foot

We are used to winning the Prem now. How it is won becomes more important. We had a chance to rub it in today and thanks to Pep we didn't. The excitement was brimming over at half time. It won't reach that level again this season I'm sure.

Ok my last comment on the matter. IMO Young wasn't out of control, and I dont think he took out a player who was in control of the ball. So I dont think it was a penalty. We will have to agree to disagree but please none of the "Rag" crap or "fool" just because we disagree, I just find that a bit daft tbh. Im not calling anyone for having a different opinion, I just didnt see it in the same way you did. End of really.

Take a look at how birdshit man starts his attempt to break Kuns leg..twat jumps into the tackle both feet in the air...granted he only caught him with 1 foot but it was fucking reckless.
Players aren't allowed to tackle like that nowadays..it was much worse than the one Delph got red carded for against Wigan.
Atkinson was awful all game...every decision went the rags way...
We should have buried our chances today and humiliated them but we missed too many and it cost us , but they are light years away from being a good team.

Agree.

I think losing to Liverpool is the bigger hurt.

If you said at the start of the season Liverpool of all the teams in the Cl would knock us out I would have laughed.

To go out to Monaco and Liverpool in consecutive seasons is a huge downside in regards to our CL quest.

It’s hardly Barca, Bayern or Madrid.

Spoilt load of fucking twats sometimes. We will end up champions and league cup holders with record points, or very close to. I’m fucking gutted tonight, but I’ve still got a sense of realism. Our fan base has changed.

Just watched the game on motd and although he probably should have scored on the first chance Sterling gets a nudge and the ball bobbled slightly. Unlucky with the one off the post but he didn't know much about it.

Atkinson is a cheat pure and simple. It was an horrendous leg breaking challenge .out of control, a sending off and a penalty.

Our defending was atrocious. For the second goal Pogba just trots with nobody picking him up at all. Sunday league defending.

Still hard to believe we actually lost that game, a freak result really.

Not going to watch it and put myself through it again but what did the panel have to say about the Young challenge on Aguero?

Gutted about that today. Not necessarily because we didn’t sew the league up from a very decent position, not even because it was against United. It’s the way we lost it that pissed me off. Too casual at times, really, really poor defending for all 3 goals and we’re obviously guilty of missing more than a few chances ourselves.

The team selection was surprising, I thought he’d have gone for this given he’s often played our strongest 11 against lower placed teams. But, give him his dues, it worked in the first half. What concerns me is that we’re incapable of playing any other way. Our system works when we’re on the front foot, but not when teams get at us. Our in game management is poor when teams push on and that, in my opinion is not going to win us the champions league.

We’ve thrown an opportunity today that we’d all have loved and talked about for years. I can get over that, but we’ve thrown it so we can chase what I think is a lost cause on Tuesday. I think we’ll win on Tuesday, but we won’t keep a clean sheet and we’ll go out.

They must have been told to sit back and conserve energy in the 2nd half. We did it last week against Everton, but Everton didn’t press us so we kept the ball pretty easily. When they did press us, albeit for a very short period in that game, they scored.

We’ll win the league, it’s been a great season, but at the minute I’m fucking raging about things I’d have bollocked my under 13s side for doing.
Ok, we're all in shock and we don't get much practice at facing sustained pressure, but can we be expected to criticise our team when Sergio almost has knee ripped out ? Liverpool did a number on us (fair enough), but even then the ref screwed us over. Roll on VAR !!!
