Anything less than this and the old suspicions will remain!
The cynic in me believes the authorities have been forced to bring in VAR as a token gesture to the fans around the world simply to show they share our concerns. I would be absolutely gobsmacked if they used it as effectively as rugby as that will confirm they are inept and biased.

This still makes my blood boil

That's why I can't take to the CL competition, although it makes me sound like a sore loser.

I found this on the BBC website about time added on at the end of each half:

How do referees keep track of how long an injury takes?

There's two people, one of the assistants and the fourth official. As soon as the physio or trainer comes on, they will monitor how long they are on the pitch.

Does he stop his watch or just note what time the injury has happened?

He doesn't stop his watch, no. It's just a case of monitoring their watch; they never stop the watch.

Is 30 seconds added on for each substitution?

As a rule of thumb, yes. But if a player is doddering, meandering, then extra time can be added. And it's the same for red cards, yellow cards as well.

Is the clock stopped for goals?

No, it's not. But they do add time (to cover celebrations). It's around 30 seconds as a rule of thumb, unless they spend five minutes celebrating. Every situation is different, they'll take each one on its merit.

How do referees account for time-wasting?

That's discretionary. It has to depend on the situation.

A goal in the first half and two bookings? That makes a minute and a half. Time added on by El Matador? Nothing. Second half: two goals, Five bookings, five substitutions, blatant time wasting. That's three and a half minutes. I've long since come to the conclusion that refs don't give a flying fuck about time wasting so scrub that one. Why do we only have a total of two minutes? How is that explained away? No wonder Pep was livid at HT! Eufa (English) should be renamed Eucb - European Union of Cheating Bastards.

Regarding the lack of added time - maybe 30 seconds should not have been added for the goal as we ran the ball straight to the halfway line. Just a thought

That said, there should have been time added for the following, surely:
  • The time wasting by their keeper
  • The messing about when they said the ball was flat
  • The injury and subsequent scrap between Ederson and Mane
  • The offside goal. It took a while to get that sorted
To add no time, at all was astonishing

I was also thinking. Surely, after Karius 3rd time wasting, it must result in a booking, although only 20 min of the game has passed? The fact that goalkeepers seem to only be booked when the clock is reaching 70-80 min is ridiculous. It should be entertainment after all.

For us to win last night we needed things to go for us. Denying that second goal deflated us. Why Pep decided to have a go at him I’ll never know. It was obvious he’d get sent off.
Nah it wasn't obvious.
Ferny and some others went to the ref at half time, pep went over to stop his players but then he had a moan at the ref and that was it sent to the stands immediately. He was actually telling his players to stop pestering the referee

I would really be interested in Pep's thoughts on referee performances against our club because they were bad before he came and I'm sure they'll be bad after he's gone but I'd like to know his experiences of it while he's been here.

Don't forget the nonsense with the ball that was supposedly flat. Not sure that I have ever seen a half with no added time added...

When Pep was sent to the stands for his outburst, the score was 3-1 on aggregate to Liverpool. If the offside rule had been applied correctly in both legs, the score would have been 3-2 to City, including an away goal.

These decisions are so crucial to the outcome so I can completely understand why Pep was so pissed off.

I did mention the flat ball business

Re added time. Guardiola has made reference to it before that in England we tend to play more than anywhere else, for excitement purposes. I think CL games tend not to have as much added on as the PL does but that does not excuse the ref in this game as they wasted so much time, it was an insult to those who had paid their money to watch the game

The guy posting the tweet is actually a United fan

He did this dossier for us in 2011/12 that negated an organised attempt to deprive us of the title and saw off the likes of Walton (allegedly). He apparently approached the club a while ago on the grounds that we were being sytematcially shafted and offering his services again. He was apparently rebuffed.

He also made some 'link' between Walker's error last week V Liverpool and a couple of other players' errors in the same week as they all have the same agency

No doubt, he/she/they are on to something but they also maybe linking things that are coincidental. That said, I think we should have VAR asap
