Mahrez, if he signs, is being given a big break by City; a shot at playing for Pep, alongside some of the best players in the world.
He will cost a decent amount of money.
But he comes in, bottom of the pecking order, in a record breaking team.
It's then upto him, to force his way into that team. If he fails, imo it's no different to Gundogan, who is not good enough to dislodge anyone from the first 11, but has done a useful job.
We can afford to buy Mahrez & have him as a squad player, then sell him off, if he can't break through, or a star if he does. Likewise, Bernardo & Gundogan.
They can all fight it out, to see who gets in the team & if any can succeed Silva etc.. And if Foden Diaz etc come through, they can be gradually be phased out.
If we signed a similar aged 150 mil superstar on 400k pw, he has to play. These guys don't, it's a case of the best men win.
