I'm from Manchester, born and brought up here.

Ever since I became aware of politics as a teenager during the early 80's, at the height of the cold war, the astounding hypocrisy of Ronald Reagan spouting off about "freedom and democracy", whilst actively supporting CIA backed terrorists to overthrow the Nicaraguan government elected by its people, or supporting death squads in El Salvador to suppress any form of dissent against it's dictator friends, made me realize that country is full of utter shit.

Absolutely nothing has changed with that country, no matter which party or president has been in charge.

It is a truly evil empire and it astonishes me that more people can't see what I see.

I agree, though if I was Kim I wouldn't be too trusting of any promises made by the US.

The North Koreans would be well advised to only believe the promises made by Russia and China, in guaranteeing it's safety.

The americans have a long record of making agreements and then breaking them whenever it suits them, the native americans, Iranians (with the recent nuclear agreement), Libya's Gadaffi etc etc, could all tell you how trustworthy the americans truly are.

Agreed, I believe the recent meeting arranged between the heads of North and South Korea a few weeks ago? clearly shows both sides are at least willing to talk to each other.

I find it hard to believe the US is anything but a bad actor when it comes to trying to settle this long running war between the two countries, so I'm highly doubtful anything good will come of this meeting between Kim and Trump.

can only see this one of two ways, either this is a major set-up to create a public falling out so we can have a war, or Trump is so far in the bosom of China and Russia that western democracy is essentially dead and eastern dictatorship is now the modus operandi and the west have lost the proxy war.

What kind of kumbaya life do you think 90% of the world is living in? Or, do you think that America is the root of all the evil in the world,as opposed to thepoliceman trying to keep the globe on a relatively evenkeel...even I feel that means the enemy of my enemy is my friend, every now and then?!

I’m for a world full of peace and prosperity for all, but unless you know the magic formula, I’d say America (at least pre-Trump America) was one of the driving forces behind trying to help create that.
