Jorginho

Hardly a cock-up when everything was agreed before the lad went on his holiday. There was no last-minute bargaining.

The player has had the final say - no amount of money can change that.

Sounds like the player was stringing us along like you said until Sarris future was figured out

There's so much bad logic in here it's painful.

"We have the same 1st 11." - Except it's weaker, it's older, a bunch of key players have had shorter offseasons.

"Add Mahrez remove Yaya and we are better." - That's not how it works. You can't just remove defensive midfielders for wingers and pretend you're better.

"Gundo and Delph are midfielders just like Fabinho and are capable to stand in" - Well lets just hope the incredibly injury prone Mendy doesn't get another injury, or Gundogan, or David Silva or KDB suffer after a shorter summer, because you've now booked 2 players to cover about 5 positions on the pitch.

"i'm not convinced Jorginho was a like for like anyway, he won't be better than Kante" Why are you comparing 2 completely different midfielders who will do completely different jobs at Chelsea?

This isn't flapping, it's accepting that we need a proper cover/replacement for Fernandinho, and sticking your head in the sand shouting "didn't want him don't need him" is not the answer to not signing Jorginho.

We need another midfielder to play that role, we have a very short amount of time to get it done.

Spot on. We can't surely be naive enough to think that this side will hit the heights of last season when players have had less rest over summer and we haven't strengthened the squad a great deal.

We've been naive again. We've once again lost a key player to our rivals.

It's not flapping, it's people being pissed off at seeing another target slip through our grasp and our board making the same naive mistakes.

As others have said we have Delph, Danilo, Gundo to cover Fern so it's not a desperate situation. Probably says a lot about the character of Jorginho more than anything else. He would have a harder time getting into the City side than Chelsea. If we get someone else great, if not no sweat, we still have the best manager to deal with the options

None of those players are good enough to cover Fernandinho. People are looking to short-term. Fernandinho is out on his feet and 34 next birthday - you strengthen now - not when things drop off a cliff.

I made this same argument on Toure for years.

Too many have got warm and cosy - thankfully, Pep won't have been sat watching re-runs of our wins from last season.

I've read this completely differently. I took it as DeLaurentis apologising for agreeing a deal and then taking another one, then trying to justify it with the players wants.

What’s all this flapping...everyone seems to think we got duped on the final day of the transfer window there’s 4 weeks left...I’m sure there’s a contingency plan going on rn and seems like the club knew for a while Bc it doesn’t take 2 weeks after agreeing a fee to figure out if the player is coming or not

This. Fernandinho IS the cover now. We need a young top class DM.

Not sure who now though....

Graham Hunter has alluded to Nzonzi but he's at the world cup, so that could be a no go purely down to the window shutting early.

Guess we've heard differently. I heard City were still faffing about with installment lengths etc. Price agreed yep, but not how it was gonna be paid. Tallies with everything his agent said about no confirmation between the clubs too and how they were just waiting for the green light
