Those stats are impressive, but Coutinho is better and in this era of inflated transfer fees those valuations are probably right, £90 million for Mahrez was too high.
Well considering they pick up different positions in the pitch, saying Coutinho is better is questionable. I'd say Mahrez has a much bigger impact on games than Coutinho does.

"In 176 games for Liverpool, Coutinho scored 48 goals and provided 39 assists.

Mahrez has played 167 times for Leicester and scored 46 goals with 33 assists."
@christen at St Marks

Mahrez cost 60m, while Coutinho cost 142. Put into consideration that Coutinho played for a far better team. Mahrez could be a bargain
Very happy with this signing, and happy that City held out for their valuation, didnt LCFC want 90 mill for him 6 months ago ?

Should fit in very well and I think we will walk the prem again..............great times :)

I get the impression that Mahrez wanted us and nobody else. No other club seemed to make a concerted effort to nip in and offer him more. That’s not to say they didn’t want him because he’d be welcomed to any club in the world. It’s because the player had made his mind up.
This is the kind of commitment and character we need in a player.

Exactly other than that we reach our maximum valuation and others simply outbid us.

That's what attracted Pep to him methinks. If he can reach his potential we'll have another African superstar on our hands.

Didn't even know he has signed till I've just seem this thread now. Can't you tell I avoid all papers :) anyway welcome to City Riyad.

The one players who can create on his own when faced with buses. Goes past players in tight spaces and creates goal scoring ops for himself. Bernado did it a little bit last season this guy will be immense. Get your money on for double double centurions

Let's be honest, we don't really need him do we?

Well I think we do - not just for strengthening/ freshening up the squad.....but from what I know Stirling has not signed a contract extension. He is not in as strong a position to bargain as he was 24 hours ago. Of course I would like to keep Stirling - but only at the right wage structure for the club. If he decides he can do better elsewhere then fine - we sell now and we have a perfectly fine replacement

Get where you're coming from and it does seem to hinge on other players leaving, hopefully not Sterling. I'd rather Gundogan (sp) leave than him. PS. Are you THEE Tony Adcock?

I felt at times we needed another quick, dynamic winger so we weren’t so reliant on Sane & Sterling. This was particularly noticeable around Christmas/January time when Sane was injured. There isn’t many better wingers in the Premier League than Mahrez, when he hit top form in the previous two seasons he was outstanding.

Bernardo Silva is a great player, but doesn’t fit the profile of Guardiola’s wingers here and at Bayern: Sane, Sterling, Robben, Costa, Ribery and Coman. All lightening quick.

Mahrez as a third winger along with Sane &
Sterling, plus moving B.Silva more central, strengthens us IMO.

Players to win the prem with 2 different clubs is a sparse list.

Anelka
Toure (Kolo)
Clichy
Tevez

Berg and Ashley Cole

and Mahrez
