Jorginho

So what would you do never buy a player from Napoli or Spurs because you know the people you have to deal with are untrustworthy. From what I have read it would appear that City had been advised that they had a deal but that Napoli dragged their feet presumably they knew Sarri was going and he told them he would want Jorginho if he went to Chelsea. City are led to believe the deal was all sorted and then they get told he is going to Chelsea I am not sure what City could have done

There are so many parties involved in these deals agents of players agents of managers Chairmen I am sure City are producing a list of persona non grata who they will only deal with when they have to

The great news is that no matter who City buy I am utterly convinced that they I’ll improve under Pep and I am sure that Pep would only want players who are convinced of their abilities and are prepared to fight to be in the team
Nah, of course not. Have to stay open to business with everyone but you do your best to not get drawn into months long transfer sagas with them. Even then, this stuff is hard, it happens.

Not at all, nothing would surprise me to see him still sign for City.

If nothing else, I can't believe even our PR department would try and blag it by briefing the Chelsea interest is a ruse.

Especially so, when they didn't really have to provide any real comment without establishing the facts of reports from Italy.

Still think something doesn't smell right here, someone is lying.
None of the Chelsea pet journos seem confident about it, City's favourites seem confident that nothing's agreed, the Italian media are split, partisan publications saying no and ADL's buddies saying yes, ADL is a proven pathological liar.

Wouldn't say this is done at all.

Actually, Juventus have a stance that they won't sell anyone to Napoli and they won't buy anyone from them that doesn't have a release clause, as they refuse to deal with De Laurentagob.

Milinkovic-Savic is incredibly, uncannily, similar to Pogba, without the problem of being a United player and without 2 years festering under Mourinho. Had a disappointing world cup with the rest of the serbian team so might be cheaper than he was billed before when the epectation was he'd be a break out.

Do you think he has the tools? He's a big unit, as is Pogba for that matter, so maybe they have a turning circle that might not quite be quick enough against a high press, both in terms of receiving the ball with their back to the play and also needing to be on the half turn to make a quick pass.

Would their huge physical presence mean they would simply revert to a shield and protect the ball, before finding a proper pass.

That's my only concern for both of these guys. Similarly to Toure when he was at his peak and people struggled to fathom why we couldn't do anything in the Champions League with him coming short for the ball, teams would just make sure he could not turn and get the ball out of his feet.

Would our play actually be slowed down by purchasing a Toure clone for pivot?

That brief still seems strange to me mate....Is it fair to say either we lied or someone at the club is out of the loop? by your comments you must also believe the brief to be strange...

Out of interest what would be the purpose of De Laurentis lying here. He’s not trying to get more money by the sounds of it as he said the deal was agreed and it was down to Jorginho wanting to play on London. I know it’s unlikely to be that cut and dry but wouldn’t he say Chelsea offered more for him if he was squeezing us?

Making the player the guilty party and not him I would guess

Busquets ain't exactly short but don't think he struggles; not that I have made a point of checking out the specific point but I have watched plenty of Barca games.

It may emerge as City being lied to, but at this stage, nothing warrants us believing something is gospel and still briefing.

I agree....was starting to think i was the only one questioning the club's actions by briefing the press like they did! cheers

Why would he lie? Firstly it's a habit and secondly he might be (stupidly) thinking we would panic and come back with a bigger offer.

He has a far lighter frame than the other 2 tbf. Not a fan of Milinkovic Savic, think he's over hyped and over priced.

My view exactly something smells fishy here

But surely the better way to do that would be to say Chelsea have offered more money. Jorginho might not be able to tell us that wasn’t true. If he wants to come to us he would just tell us that De Laurentis is lying. Do you see where I’m coming from.

Agree, but at a certain point it is your fault if you allow yourself to be strung along by a less than trustworthy counterparty. These things happen obviously but hindsight would suggest we made an error but not either closing the deal when we were close weeks ago or moving on.
We haven't learnt from Alvez, you can't tell me City hierarchy didn't know Conti wasn't going & Sarri was coming in.

We allowed player to fuck off back to Brazil followed by his agent going back & forwards to London.
He had no World Cup, come do medical & sign pre contract.
City have some blame here & let him slip away.

Snooze you loose.

This is an example of over thinking we did everything in our part. Why didn’t chelsea come in earlier did they just want to rub it in our face? You can’t be telling me they were planning this. They could have gotten him cheaper as well if they showed interest earlier so why now? And this bullshit the player decided London is a better place to live I don’t buy it.
