Jorginho

If it feels any better, we have Gundogan as a DM. And he is way too good to be benched.
For now, we have three right wingers (Bernardo, Sterling, Mahrez). If we need a creative mid, we have both Gundogan and Bernardo.
If we need a DM, we have Gundogan and Fernandinho.

If we got Jorginho, Gundogan would have been benched both as a DM, and a creative midfielder as well (De Bruyne, D.Silva, B.Silva, Foden).
So f*ck this.

It's all good, mate. It just pisses me off because our owners pay a lot of qualified people to make sure they do their jobs correctly in the first place.

I agree, too many people want an opportunity to stick it to Txiki, but I'm not one of them.

I'm sure Pep has already moved on.

Cue our shoddy PR team probably already now spinning a face-saving line and trying to get it out there.

That job would have been a helluva lot easier if they had not dismissed the possibility yesterday that Chelsea's interest was true.

Totally agree but it’s clear the player and his agent were double playing - telling us they had no knowledge of Chelsea’s interest - which we obviously believed whilst they were meeting Chelsea in Milan. It’s a tough pill to swallow but swallow it we must - no point turning on each other - Txiki is a brilliant D of F. Just need to get 6 points out of Chelsea again next season.

Unfortunately if we persist in telling the selling club our maximum offer we will be used like this again.
True. Although I can understand our policy, we’ll have to get used to missing out on players quite a bit. Only reason he could have chosen Chelsea is money.

His agent has played it perfectly imo. Bastard.

Surely the PR team were just communicating the line given to them from above? They're not involved in a transfer until it's close to the line and would need approval before giving any comment.

It's a negotiating tactic just asking to be ebayesque sniped

Put our maximum offer in early doors and someone comes in last minute and takes the item for slighty more. We come back when the auction has ended, sigh then head back to the search bar.

I do not think that football transfer negotiations are much different than any other sector of industry.
You are very lucky if you don't have competition and price plays a major part of any order mainly because the vendors representative has to justify any reason to accept lower offers or tenders.
Multi million pound transactions are particularly sensitive and frankly ADL would be seen as incompetent if he had accepted our bid without a second offer to demonstrate his choice. Since he knew we had a maximum he has simply used our bid to demonstrate a better deal for Napoli and his former player.
The usual auction did not take place because we were City and not United against Chelsea.

Don't you think it's just Sarri moving to Cfc ...I doubt us offering more money would have changed anything

I don't think he goes to Cfc if Sarri doesn't...We might have been his 2nd choice

It's a new country/league he probably just wants to work with a manager he knows

There’s time and place for this tactic. Can’t be doing it with arguably our main summer signing.

Ah fuck this one hurts!

If it helps mate, think about it like this:

We have signed Mahrez; we have effectively a new signing in a fit Mendy; we have Foden and Diaz coming through and they will only get better; we have offloaded a diminished Yaya; we still have 50 million in the kitty. Thinking of my wasted youth on the Kippax, I think I would have taken that.

I know I have committed a bluemoon sin by disagreeing with TH but let's be honest if the club have messed up this time or many times we are not doing to badly. So many people willing to put down the club, I know who I trust to run the club and get it right and it's not any of the bluemoon experts.

More unwarranted sarcasm. I for one disagree with Tolm upon occasion and you are welcome to disagree with him, not that you need my permission. However, I was posting and your comments caught my eye.

The club is doing a great job in many ways, and I generally prefer to focus on the positives, but it isn't perfect and it is not a crime to comment on mistakes that do happen.

Exactly, for less important targets its OK to do this, but not for the most important position in the system (DM). You overpay if you have to considering the lack of alternatives. Oh well, it is what it is. If he was a CB no doubt we would have put the cash on the table.

His agent played it beautifully. Do the difficult negotiations with ADL via us. What a snake. I Hope his other clients never want to play for a CFG club.
Anyeay, it's nothing to do with London, Jorginho just wants to continue to work with Sarri apparantly - fair enough but Sarri will be sacked by December in the same way Scolari was so enjoy life at the Chekski hell hole son. (Sarri can't speak much English and he'll be working with players who think they know better etc etc.)
You could have rung Txiki to tell him as soon as you knew the offer was there. But no apparantly not.
An EBay auction indeed.
