Gundogan is nowhere near good enough. Slow as fuck too. Rather blood foden than play him.
No, or I would have said ability. The two most important things Pep wants from the position are speed of thought and the positional discipline to be where needed. It's why despite many people over the years questioning Busquets, Pep found him ideal. Gundogan has good enough speed of thought concerning how plays are shaping up meaning he can make the necessary passes to beat the press. The question is does he have the positional discipline to be where he needs to be on the pitch when our attacks break down against the counter?Discipline you mean ability?
Why rush a dm this summer when a better one becomes available winter or summer next year? Makes no Sense to spend money on a player that won’t be good for us just to cover a position that we can handle without...let’s be honest here guys we are in control of most games we don’t need fernandhino for most of them look at Spurs last year when he was suspendedPersonally think it’s a huge mistake to not get a DM this summer
Bingo!!!Success is often simply being one step ahead of the train. I think Pep is trying to make sure he STAYS one step ahead of the train, as others are attempting to rejigger their entire squads to better meet the challenge that is City today.
I think it would be a mistake to ignore bolstering the back 5/6, as we looked a little leggy, and even at sixes and sevens, at times last season. In Vinny we have a Goliath in a competition full of slings. In Ota, we have a player who can be world class...if he remembers he can be world class and doesn’t need to run over all in his path. We also appear to have what might be called “fragile” full backs, which has meant we had a very unsettled back line for the majority of last season.
Stones and Laporte will be the basis of our back line in the future, with Walker and Mendy as the “flying full backs,” which means we will need some serious brains and legs patrolling in front of a potentially exposed pair of centre halves. Does that mean we steal a player from the front six, and play a back three/five? Or, do we improve the cover in front of the two centre halves, so that we allow the front corps to do their work?
Also, let’s not forget that we do have a few aging players in the squad, even today, and replacing those players...or at least providing world class cover until they are no longer up to snuff...has to be a priority. Therefore, the spine of the team needs the highest quality replacement process over the next few seasons (Bravo, Kompany, Otamendi, Fernandinho, Silva, Aguero).
Pep clearly saw Jorginho as his preferred choice to relieve some of the pressure off Fernandinho. That doesn’t ignore the fact that he was the first among many, but Pep and Txiki CANNOT be happy if Napoli and Chelsea conspire to gazump us in this month’s long saga.
I think we need the best possible combination of strength and grace in the middle of the park. Who that might be, I don’t know, but I trust in the management of this team and club to know what they think is best...and they’ve been pretty good at it to this date.
Bingo again! Spot on.Given the new reports this morning that we're not looking at other DM options this summer, I can't help but think we're making a huge mistake here. I guess it's fair enough if there are no other suitable options, but we're in effect betting our entire season on Fernadinho's continued health and fitness in his age 33 season. I personally don't think Gundogan is sufficient cover, and suspect Pep agrees given we were willing to spend 50m on the position two days ago.
I agree he is the hardest worker we have,i have a real soft spot for him,in games where we are going to have the ball we can rotate him with gundy,i really feel that although losing out on Jorginho is a pain we will manage just fine, review again in january if someone else we really like becomes availableYeh, watched him closely, he did seem tentative in the tackle. That's the key I
I know what your saying but what it doesn't acknowledge is that we smashed the league with fern playing the majority of those prem matches. We can't understate the impact his selfless role had on that accumulation of those points. He's my favourite player, but like the rest of are key players, he is going to need to be rotated. It's if and when he is rotated or god forbid injured I'm suggesting a player similiar to fern would be ideal, because I think we would miss his selfless work which laid the platform for us being able to accrue that's point total. Pep said himself that if he could he would have 10 ferns. That sort of praise I think reflects the value pep has on his contribution to team tactics, function and his own footballing philosophy.
Yeh, I actually like Gundy two, watched a bit of him at Dortmund. I've got my fingers crossed for him this season. It was sterling last season I wanted to succeed so much. This fella is the next one I've got high hopes for as there is a terrific footballer in there, it's just that were yet to see it consistently.I agree he is the hardest worker we have,i have a real soft spot for him,in games where we are going to have the ball we can rotate him with gundy,i really feel that although losing out on Jorginho is a pain we will manage just fine, review again in january if someone else we really like becomes available
I want to see Jesus improve this year Bc it’s gettint towards his moment in the club with kun leaving soon. What if...Mahrez was brought to be yayas replacement :O mindfuckKhaldoon said in his interview the biggest thing he learned was you have to improve the squad with quality! No one is saying that Fernandinho is finished but say he gets a bad injury or suffers a big dip in form over the season? I was hoping going to places like anfield we would have played Fernandinho and Jorginho? I appreciate someone could step in to do the job but surely we are looking to someone who is actually used to the job? Why was Jorginho the one and only option?
Maybe we have learnt to wait until the right player is available rather than fill the squad with stop gaps thar we can't get rid of at a later date when the right player is available. So if we cant get Jorginho and there isn't the right alternative we wait. Pep is more than capable of working with what we have which is better than what we had last season if Fernandinho gets injured.Khaldoon said in his interview the biggest thing he learned was you have to improve the squad with quality! Because he said we will only buy to improve the squad,if pep doesn't think anyone else currently available would improve us then keep our money for now, what we don't need is to panic buy, thats the old cityKhaldoon said in his interview the biggest thing he learned was you have to improve the squad with quality! Covering cracks with paper isn’t viable anymore I don’t see many clubs top clubs doing thatMaybe we have learnt to wait until the right player is available rather than fill the squad with stop gaps thar we can't get rid of at a later date when the right player is available. Looks like we're repeating the same mistakes as the last title winning summers.
I can't believe we're not going to strengthen in defensive midfield. We're crying out for one.
Here's hoping it's just Twitter bullshit, but it doesn't look good.
What cracks ? If the right player isnt available why would we buy the wrong player for the sake of it?Covering cracks with paper isn’t viable anymore I don’t see many clubs top clubs doing that

We tried but lost out for whatever reason,it happensLooks like we're repeating the same mistakes as the last title winning summers.

I wasn’t disagreeing lol...I was agreeing buying someone for the fuck of it would be covering a crack with paperWhat cracks ? If the right player isnt available why would we buy the wrong player for the sake of it?
No the mistake we made before was buying the wrong players when we didnt get our targets, if true then this time we are keeping our powder dry.The last winning summers we were!'t 19 points better and we didnt have a coach as innovative as Pep.Looks like we're repeating the same mistakes as the last title winning summers.
