Jorginho

Jorginho and Napoli are playing the long con here, ballsy.

Seeing as Chelsea's interest is fake.

That two big games early August might come too soon for having Fernandinho/Delph back vs. Chelsea in Wembley then Arsenal away in first round of PL.

Gundogan have to start both big games as a DM probably. Gonna be a good test to see what he has to offer defensively as we are going to be tested against them.

Is Gundogan defending well when we are being countered? Like making crucial tackles at high speed trying to stop a counter before our high line defence will be punished?

Since when has the charity shield been a big game?

Hopefully so mate! We definitely need another midfield. Kovacic for me.

It's not true we don't want to bring in an alternative.

We don't want to telegraph desperation but Pep does think Fernandinho and Silva can't be relied upon half as much next season.

It takes the pressure off our negotiators just in case we come up short on another face.

I'll say it again, as I am getting a pissed off with a certain narrative bring peddled, City walked away from Fred and never pursued the deal after January because Pep preferred Jorginho.

If anything, we treated Fred and his agents quite poorly, by just ending the interest, so Shakhtar went directly to United.

It works both ways, we have also led clubs to believe we are seriously interested in a player before then not getting back.

My only issue is Fernandinho burn out. I know Gundog excelled when he filled in for him last season, but he doesn't have the same physicality as Fernandinho.

Having said that, out of Jorginho or Gundog, who'd be better suited to filling in for Fernandinho? That's the question we need to consider right now, because that would make more squad sense for me.
And that was always my issue with the Jorginho signing, does he really offer more physicality than Gundogan?
Neither of them have the physicality that Fern has.

To be honest I can't think of a defensive mid that is available that has the physical and technical capabilities that we need, certainly not to Fern's level.

Like somebody said earlier, Loftus Cheek would be a great shout if Chelsea don't want him, not a defensive mid but has the physical and technical capabilities. However, think he would affect Foden's progress.

Shambolic if we don’t sign a CM

If we can see these problem positions coming a mile off why can’t Txiki

It was fullbacks 2 years ago, had to let them all go and spend £150m the year after (after losing the title)

CB last summer (Kompany fucked after a few games and had to spend 60m in Jan)

CM this year

Player wanted to come to City on Thursday? Bollocks. ADL and his agent stitched us up well over a week ago. Lets hope City give his agent and Napoli a bill for our wasted time.

Fern hasn't had a proper pre-season for three years and it isn't fair to keep relying on his engine, never mind injury or the number of cautions and suspensions he will pick up.

Gundogan doesn't have the legs or the desire to put out fires, which out brilliant Brazilian had practically been doing by himself for three years, thanks to that lazy bastard Toure.

A shame, thought he may of fit in well here. Napoli absolutely shocking attitude to business, just hope they get their just desserts. City will move on, no doubt we will of been prepared and if that is no more signings i'm sure we will still be a force.

Here is my opinion...

I believe Fern is vital to the way this team play and function and I strongly believe his replacement should be of a similar style. Energy and plenty of it. I believe the signing of this fella would of been a gamble, would it of worked as good as the fern type of player?

There are other options and I think a more energised midfielder would be a better option.
