A good friend of mine went to prison this week. He probably deserved it to be honest within the parameters of what the judge had.

It was still sad still that a moment of madness at a time of some significant problems, led to prison.

I’m determined to help as much as I can. He’ll be punished enough.

Anyone had experience of this?

7 years down south.

I meant what type of institution? Young offender or is it somewhere with a serious rep? Take it he has no previous experience to call upon? Seven years is a long time to go away - has he a family and kids on the outside?

Single bloke GBH. Adult prison.

well at least you don't have to make sure wife and kids are ok and get that info to him - I suppose its going to be all about you being in touch as much as you can be with him and keeping his morale up when you do - make sure other friends rally round too. Needs to know he isn't alone.

Yeah think we’ll get a co-ordinated approach so we can support him.

I would like to think that I would support a friend who had been in trouble unless it was along the lines of a Jimmy Saville.

What can you do other than visit him and write?

Suppose you could organise a jailbreak.
