I might have dreamt it but i think pep said last season who couldn't play with sergio and gabby together whilst benny was out?
Yep, I think we might see both against teams like Huddersfield.

Wonder if the need to use Fernandinho more sparingly this season, having missed out on Jorginho, means we might see someone else playing as a pivot in home games like this?

I'd rather use Dinho against the counter attacking sides and Gundogan against the pressing ones tbh.

I think there's still a certain element of players playing their way into fitness so we'll probably see a couple of changes. I'd like to see the 3-5-2 given a chance here

Will be interesting to see what pep goes for after his comments about finding new ways of breaking teams like Huddersfield down. I personally would like to see him go for 352 although this allows kun and Jesus to start together I would love to see sterling play next to kun with sane and mahrez supplying the width. An early goal would be spot on, enjoy blues.

Yeah, good point, I've heard he's going to use Stones in a more forward role, and having watched Pep for a
while now, if he thinks it'll work, I'll go with him. Fernandinho was, for me, my favourite player last season, a brilliant
reader and controller of the game, let's hope his old bones stand up to another seasons battering!

Abstinence already after the perfect start against Gunners, it feels good that the players get to rest a week between games though, considering how tight the schedule will become eventually.

Thought that, but wondered if we would go 3 at the back in games like this, with 3 centre backs we could easily play a midfield of Gundogan KDB and a Silva.

I see what you mean...yesterday was checking the fixtures and there is 8 PL games between Dec.1st and Jan. 1st.
Boxing day - (a) , 29th Dec. - (a) and Jan. 1st at Home - 'Pool.
No time for any Turkey/Christmas pudd............lol

I'd go:

Ederson
Walker Stones Laporte Mendy
Bernado Dinho KDB
Sterling Aguero Gab

Merlin to get minutes off the bench. Long term I'd like to see Bernado on the right and Sterling on the left more often.

I don't understand the clamour for 352. I really don't. Means 3 centre halves which is pointless in 90% of games. It means our wide attackers are fullbacks and no real space for Sane & Sterling or Mahrez in their best positions. It also closes the pitch centrally limiting for or the two advanced 8's.

I appreciate other may see it differently, or may deploy Sane & Sterling as the wingers as opposed to wing backs.
I can't think of a single good result Liverpool aside. Last season we struggled with Brighton, Bournemouth & Everton. It was only after the switch to 433 we started taking the piss.

Sunday for me.

Ederson
Walker
Otamendi
Laporte
Mendy

Gundogan
Silva (B)
De Bruyne

Sane
Aguero
Sterling.

Bravo.
Stones
Kompany
Fernandinho
Mahrez
Jesus
Foden/Silva

Seems like a decent idea, Huddersfield won’t come to attack, so we could rest Ferni and JS is more than capable of handling a holding role.

If the KDB news is true...

Starting XI
Ederson
Walker Stones Laporte Mendy
Gundogan
Mahrez B.Silva D.Silva Sané
Aguero

Subs
Bravo
Otamendi
Kompany
Fernandinho
Sterling
Jesus
Foden/Diaz

Taking into account Sterling's performance against Arsenal (and Sane's against Chelsea) I think you'd be mad to leave Raheem out.

I know Chelsea beat 'Udders 3-0 last weekend but does anyone know how/if 'Udders had many pre-season games?
and how did they play/line up.?
Interesting to see if they played very defensively
