De Bruyne injury - Back in Training (p89)

Every team has to cope with injuries and were the same we can't go through the season unscathed.
We have to adate and we will.

We weren't looking to sign a similar player to Kevin.
To be fair, most of the names that were sounded out could do a decent job as advanced CMs even more so than as deep lying midfielders even though the intention was probably to sign them as Fernandonho's replacement. Pjanic, Veratti, Thiago are some of them. Even players suited more to playing deeper like Jorginho could cover well in the event of such unfortunate occurencies as this.

Gundo and Bernardo will need to up their game big time to fill in especially now that we aren't even certain about Silva's fitness.

This is certainly not the kind news any of us would want to hear.

Bad news, but on the bright side we are quite well stocked in midfield.

Time for Bernardo, Merlin and Phil Foden (hopefully to shine). The fixtures are quite kind to us in the next 6 weeks but Gundogan will need to step up but the squad we have should be ok

Terrible news, he is the real engine on our team.
All those people saying we will be just fine without another midfield signing, I guess now we get to find out.

Agreed. KDB's pressing sets the tone for the others so he will definitively be a big loss, but we looked good in Charity Shield and v Arsenal (although he came on as sub) without him so hopefully the others can step up. Great chance for Gundogan and Bernardo Silva to stake their claim.

Liverpool fan here. Genuinely hope DeBruyne, fantastic footballer that he is, has a speedy recovery. Best player in the league inmho who is a fucking nightmare for rival defenders, his control, poise and spatial awareness, speed of thought, those runs and through balls he plays makes him unstoppable as he scythes through would-be organised defences. When firing on all cylinders close to best in the world.
Saying that, if any squad can survive the temporary loss of their best player it has to be City with such an insane depth of squad. Your second eleven is better than United's first ffs, so yes it's sad for Kevin DB on a personal level but is hardly going to affect you versus the fodder.

Gutted is an understatement. Not necessarily because i think our chances of silverware has taken a hit, but more because I just love watching him play. Get well soon Kev!

Hope he's a fast healer, not just for our title chances but for anyone who is a genuine football fan - he's a joy to watch.

Could do with David Silva getting up to speed then for numbers and to help with breaking down walls of defenders.

There isn't any directly replacing KDB, very few players have his ability combined with athleticism, if any currently, so we just have to play without raking through balls and stubbing strikes for a bit.

If it's two months, including an international break, then I think i can reluctantly live with that, providing it's not a recurrance of damage in the same knee and he comes back ready to tear it up.

Still, we can take teams apart with the quality of players we have throughout the team, and if we don't win in any game then we should not be in a position where the ones sent out weren't good enough to at least create the chances. Taking them, that's a different proposition!

Fucking hell a week into the new season and a major injury to one of our key players, have we any idea length of time expected out,or are they waiting for more checks and so forth, just looking at some posts it’s 2 months, hopefully Kdb will be back sooner than we hope and until then a chance for others to stamp their mark in the team Bernardo ( although to be fair he has started the season well and pre season) and Foden ...

Well I guess that's the positive side is the next 6 matches are against this year's promotee's and last year's promotee's, which means that, if it were gonna happen, now is probably the best period of the season for it to happen. And atleast with the signing of Mahrez we have a player that can unlock defenses in some similar ways to De Bruyne. I mean my biggest concern is that I don't trust Gundogan to unlock those tightly packed defenses but if we move Mahrez into a similar role to De Bruyne I think that is about the best we can do in terms of trying to achieving "like-for-like" over the next 3 months with his long range passing and crossing ability.
