The 'Greek Tragedy' retires.

To be honest I didn't rate him but I remember him playing centre-forward one week and scoring thinking it would be good for his confidence and then we went to (I think) Everton the next week only to watch him line up on the left side of midfield...….Typical Pearce mismanagement unfortunately

Shot all our cash on a YouTube video, sadly we didn't learn with Kev & Vuoso.

If Poll hasn't disallowed a perfectly good header v Newcastle on his debut he could have been a contender.

Think from memory Sunderland & West Ham were his only decent games for us.

Played out of position by a wank manager. When played up top, he scored some super goals, including our last 2 home goals of 2007, came on and won us the game.

Still plenty of fans blast him, making them bigger blues.
It's true there were plenty of times Pearce played him out of position. He also occasionally looked good. But there were plenty of times he was played up front and looked shite.

I suppose the letdown was that we had such high hopes. And paid a lot of money. And he was piss poor.

Apart from that, people are being very unfair.

I was similarly working with a dutch lad at the time, a HeernVeen fan as well, he actually rated Samaras' potential but said Huntelaar was the real deal, I think we were linked with him later down the line.

As to Samaras, I'm sure that injury early on had a big effect, bobbins after that

It wasnt Huntelaar. It was a player at Heerenveen alongside Samara's at club level. Going to have to check it now...

Ah yes you are right. It was Huntelaar! Another one for the MCFC 'look what you could have won' pile!
