Helicopter crash involving Leicester City owners

Franceinfo quoting Puel
He said: “It’s a tragedy for the club. All of my thoughts are for the victims and their families and I want to reassure all those concerned for me: I am dreadfully sad, but I am well.”

This is awful, imagine if it was our owner and/or the others like Khaldoon
I've always been unsure about helicopters but i suppose these accidents a few in the grand scheme of things
I've also been a bit wary of them, especially since the Aberdeen pub crash. And don't forget Chelsea's old chairman Harding, who perished on his way back from an away game (don't think he was chairman at the time) They just seem a bit like bambi in the air to me. Sad times at Leicester.

A well known pilots forum saying that both Plod and BT had drones flying in the area allegedly. A very sad day for the fans , club and families . I do find it amazing that a private helicopter can be brought into a built up area like this on a regular basis though. Emergency helicopters landing at hospitals etc are a different matter as I would expect them to have emergency equipment ie. Fire fighting equipment on hand in case of an accident on the pad , but a private helicopter coming in and out of a tricky landing zone in a built up area, on a regular basis doesn't seem to have to have this cover. I am sure that the CAA rules and regs have been followed , Helicopters strange things at the best of times, you just need one small failure in a component and Helicopters give you little time to react .

I’m sure the stats show they are safe but they don’t look particularly safe to me!

Eerily around the same time as Harding's accident.

Once the tail rotor stops, the main carriage of the helicopter is going to start turning the same way as the main rotors. Just physics. Wouldn't catch me in one.

All very sad.
At height it is not a problem.
All pilots are trained to handle this.
It is just unfortunate it happened at such a low altitude.
Little height and little forward momentum are fatal in helicopters.

I won’t get in one.

Best wishes to everyone involved with this, a sad moment for football and the families

Hundreds of helicopters fly around London every day, they even have specific routes they fly along, and land at various sites throughout the City as well as the main airports.

They have a good safety record in general, with thousands flying at any one time, but like anything if there is an accident it can be catastrophic.

Even if its a single engined helicopter and the engine fails, it can still land safely. I've been on one, when the pilot did a practise landing with no engine, its a bit scary at first, as it initially drops like a brick, but the quicker it drops the sooner the rotors give it normal flight again, obviously you need some reasonable height to achieve flight, the issue comes if for some reason the tail rotor has stopped, then a helicopter is in big trouble.

These rumours of drones operating in the area are a worry.

I know nothing of helicopters and what can bring them down, and even less about drones and why they might have been there. However, I too sense that whatever happened to that helicopter was both sudden and catastrophic

Cleavers I am fully aware of this lol! Just been brushing up on CAA helicopter operations it does make for some interesting reading especially operating helicopters in built up areas .
