Anthony Taylor (of Altrincham)

I actually don't think that he is a United fan, but it's an absurd appointment to give the derby to him.

Whoever he supports it's mad to have someone from Wythenshawe reffing any Manchester side, even if he was the most impartial man on earth any decision is going to be viewed with his place of birth in mind.

They know what they're up to, put his face on the announcement, drum up a bit of controversy before the game.

Ridiculous that he was even an option.

I'm only surprised that Riley hasn't come out of retirement to do the game himself. All season it's been very obvious that the referees have been told to try and help United out and I don't expect any different. As long as he doesn't do anything truly extreme (sending someone off very early etc) then I genuinely think we can take him out of the equation though. Can't let the game be close though or we'll end up getting the Atkinson treatment from last year

What are they up to?

I meant in regards to the tweet, drumming up a bit of controversy before the game starts.

Wasn't blaming the Premier League as I know it's the PGMOLs decision.

Its just boringly predicatable. I reckon there's a 95% chance Mourinho says something about the ref before the game too, shifting the focus from the game to the referee making the 'right' decisions.

Used to know somebody related through marriage to him, they informed me their entire family are United fans and this was way before he even became a premier league ref. Now he himself could be the most impartial, neutral man on the entire planet but purely through being born and raised in Manchester and having a strong connection to either/both clubs it should be an impossibility for him to ref any games involving either team not least the Derby.

We've seen refs with even the slightest hint of an affiliation to a broad area near a team not be allowed to ref other games involving teams near said team in the league because of a fear of a conflict of interest so how on earth is he approved to referee this game? City should be making a bigger deal about this, and if he really is an altrincham fanl, so should United.

Pep might? Who knows?
Come Sunday night I don’t think there will be any controversy to discuss from decisions against us.

This is hilarious, dinho or vinny or even both will get sent off, maybe ratboy knew he had the game before we did and has set the scene

This is a joke right ? He’s a united fan and so are his family

He claims to be an Altrincham fan, but his family are United fans. How can it be fair to have a guy born in Wythenshawe refereeing any Manchester team, let alone a Manchester Derby! I haven't forgotten or forgiven that shocking debacle against Chelsea. Everyone knows how important Fernie is to us and the negative jibes about tactical fouls before the derby, no doubt he'll be the first with a card.

When you get the main financer of PGMOL telling them he wants ‘the season to go to the last’, you are bound to get corruption like this.
