Anthony Taylor (of Altrincham)

IMO one of the tactics refs use to stifle our game is by frequently breaking up play. I expect this to happen a lot for minor infractions on Sunday, thus effecting the flow of the game and hampering our efforts to build attacks....
Another favourite, and often unnoticed tactic is to constantly get in the way of the outlet ball and block the passing channels. Bent refereeing is a dark art, and when done well is almost invisible.

It's quite funny reading that someone believes a ref uses tactics to break up our play.
Or it would be if I hadn't been thinking exactly the same thing.

It’s a very odd/bad appointment on a few levels, but it seems a bit too obvious if someone, somewhere wanted to influence the result. Surely you’d go for a more low-key appointment rather than one that has attracted so much attention before a ball has even been kicked?

Maybe that’s the beauty of it Ric. It’s so obvious it’s fooled us all.

I’m not even sure I’m suggesting he would favour utd to be honest. It’s just a weird, odd appointment and shouldn’t be happening in this fixture.

Of all the referees, they choose this one, knowing full well the storm it would create.

I’m sure they do it just to keep the bandwagon that is the PL rolling.

As we know I am not really an agenda enthusiast in relation to refs, but if anyone challenged my view it would probably be this guy. Based on his competency alone he should be no where near reffing this game and its a nonsensical decision to appoint him.

It makes no sense but every so often I believe selections are made to send a statement, this & refs for champs league at Anfield.

The Chelsea game was not just poor decisions it was his manner.

As for being an Alty fan, well I come from there & loved going to cheer on the Robins but all their supporters are 2 things;

Supporters of City or Rags foremost
From Altrincham

Another tactic is to single out a player and wind them up by giving cheap fouls against, and letting them get kicked off the park in the process in the hope that they loose their shit and get themselves sent off.

I assume that Anthony still lives around here? If so, can you imagine how uncomfortable his week has been?

He won't have been able to step foot out of his house and if he makes an incorrect decision either way on Sunday, he won't be able to step out for weeks.

Take a step back from the fear of bias towards United and think of the human aspect. It's a fucking appalling appointment for that alone

That’s the thing I’ve never heard anyone bump into him, certainly not at Moss Lane but no one in the days of social media but nothing.

The Chelsea game for me had a destabilising effect on our challenge for the title two seasons ago,the thought process maybe behind this appointment is to hopefully achieve the same thing,I’m surprised the club haven’t raised an issue with the premier league over his officiating in our games,Wigan as well fa cup is another..

Or he’s under that much scrutiny he can only be anything but pro City.

I wouldn’t want to be him right now.

He will certainly be in the spotlight. We, the crowd, and the team need to really get onto him with every decision he makes or doesn't make. Imagine if this whole scenario was turned around and the game was at O.T. They would be in his face from the start.

Why are the media not demanding he be replaced? Not like them to miss out on a massive click opportunity.

Think you're giving too much kudos to him.

Professional footballers have no idea what we're doing let alone an Alty fan.

The only dark arts to concern alty ant will be those that have been well aired by the impartial pundits this last week or two...

I will always remember the Chelsea game. The performance of the ref, Taylor, that day was like nothing I'd ever seen before.
