The thing is the FA know the furore around Taylor's impartiality, it would have been similar if they had appointed Atkinson after last seasons fiasco, so why not just choose another ref?
 
A couple of Blues I know indirectly, who know him and have absolutely no reason to lie, are adamant that he genuinely was an Altrincham fan as a kid and I have no reason to doubt them.

Most of his family are apparently reds though, and both stats and my own eyes tell me that he doesn’t ref us fairly. Regardless, I think it’s a bad appointment and unfair to put that pressure on him.

I hope he will ref it well and neutrally, but I guess we will find out tomorrow.
 
I would like to think that the gap in quality between the teams will have a bigger influence on the result than this rags impartiality will have

If he really is an Altrincham fan, then putting him in this position where his integrity is in question is disgraceful.

It's irrelevant who he really supports, he's got form; he should be nowhere near this game. I don't have any sympathy with regards to pressure as he's brought that upon himself with his recent performances.
 
Said it before, grew up in timperley Altrincham and never met a single Altrincham fan
How this is allowed to happen is a disgrace, they must know what’s been thrown at him in the past so why him of all people
